Congrats US, and I'd much rather see our Cousins on top than China for sure. smile Bravo. GB did incredibly well in the Golds and overall tally considering our relative population size to the top two countries, and I'm very proud of all concerned....Great effort. winner

After some initial *ahem* 'logistics' problems etc, the games went swimmingly well by all accounts, and a job well done. smile Overt pessimism is probably a defining British trait, and I half expected us to catastrophically balls everything up (which in turn would be typically British and funny), but not so! Shame on me for even thinking it (though I doubt I was the only one). biggrin Particular mention and a big round of applause must go to the thousands of Volunteers who gave up their time to make it go so well, too.

Had to laugh at London Mayor Boris Johnson "getting down" to the Spice Girls though lol......daft wazzik. NO, BORIS! You will NEVER, EVER be cool. Especially doing the "Embarrassing Dad at the Disco" shuffle. DESIST! hahaha

Job was a good un. smile

Congratulations USA! Not a bad 2nd place, but you still have a long way to go. winkngrin

Nice try. The EU is not a country. USA was the overall medal winners by far. Followed by China, and the United Kingdom.

Congratulations to Portugal on taking home a Silver!
Remember, the memories and newly forged friendships are more valuable.
And going home empty-handed would just suck.

Oh c'mon! Aren't the Spice Girls held in the same high regard as Pink Floyd and Led Zep?

I was quite surprised by the Spice Girls, they were nowhere near as bad as I thought they would be.

MUSE was the highlight for me,although Brian May put in a good turn tuner

Muse a definite yes, could have done some more.

Ditch Annie Lennox and George Michael next time. Why did he get two songs?

It was good to see all the competitors letting their hair down.

This is just my opinion.....

Madness - Fair
Pet Shop Boys - Fair
One Direction - Who? C**p.
Ray Davies (Kinks) Looked and sounded like he was dragged out of retirement.
George Michael - Meh
Kaiser Chiefs - Good
Annie Lenox - Fair to middling
Ed Sheeran - Can't stand him but he sang Wish You Were Here accompanied by Nick Mason.
Fat Boy Slim - Why?
Russell Brand - entertaining.
Spice Girls - Ok,could have been a lot worse.
Jessie J,Tinie Tempah and Taio Cruz - Never heard of any of them - reasonable.
Brian May/Roger Taylor - Very good
Eric Idle - Awesome!
Liam Gallagher -Meh
Muse - Not enough and maybe too restrained.
Take That - Meh
Somebody who could have stolen the show if he was still with us - Freddie Mercury biggrin

YMMV

FYI Queen vs Obama
