hiya all,
have been pottering away for the last 2 months with a new build, she is at the stage now where it is time to start covering. The desiginer Peter Rake has done a fantastic job on her, especially considering it is not a type that he normally enjoys drawing up plans for.
here is my build thread for anyone interested,
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1664316

Cheers
Craig

This is going to look great when finished. I love the colour schemes on this aircraft. Have you decided which one you'll go with yet?

Cheers guys,
i have narrowed it down to one of two schemes,

or

i like both though the red version will be better for orientation, and
flying in low ight conditions

Cheers

Wish I had the space and skill to go for something like that.

Beautiful construction and plan design.

Out of those two choices I'd have to say red too. Looking forward to the end result, and hopefully a video of her flying in blue skies too!

Cheers all, it is a bit of a shame to cover up such a beautifully designed plane but they don't fly too well otherwise smile
hopefully i can do the designer Peter Rake some justice with the end result. I will be sure to post the maiden vid when the
time arises, good or otherwise wink i have spent the last 2 months getting to this stage and should be ready to go in the next
few months all going to plan!

Cheers

Cheers mate, slowly getting there. most of the covering is done apart from the top wing which i
am still messing about making up my servo leads for. while waiting for my pins and plugs to turn
up i have started painting the fuse, well got the base colours down anyhow wink

Unbelievable good looking quality work. The red seems a bit bright though, but that's always hard to judge from a picture.

You'll love that Red when it's up in the air, looks like that grey is about the same color as the sky.

It appears to be a 'ute. The modern Australian equivalent to the El Camino.

Heya Joe,
Greyrider is correct, it is a ute. it is my old ford falcon ute, a 2000 model, 4L six cyl, auto, has been a great old bus,
never given me an ounce of trouble. doesn't get used much these days apart from being loaded up with planes when i go flying,
always handy to have around though for carting around larger items. over here every man and his dog has or has had a ute at
some stage with Ford and Holden producing a large range from basic work models to 500bhp sports jobbies.

Cheers all

on the home stretch now, finished painting the markings, and vacforming the exhaust outlets yesterday, just the little details to go.

yeah the red might be a bit bright, but the only reference material out there for this scheme is
artists interpretations anyway and they are all different, so short of a genuine colour photo turning
up we may never really know what the real shade was wink

...even then; unless the colour photo could be calibrated somehow it would only deepen the flame wars...

Besides, a model always need a bit lighter colours than the original or it will look too dark.

Really great model Craig! thumbsup

All done and dusted, maidened her yesterday and she couldn't wait to get off the ground, 2 clicks of right aileron and she was trimmed and flying pretty much hands off! got in 3 great flights with her before the wind really started to pick up, and am looking forward to many more in the future. i will put up the video link when it my mate posts it, she flys like a dream, and is a joy to build, a real credit to the designer Peter Rake.

Looks great in the air but I can see how easily it would disappear without that red on it, very sharp!
