Testing Grounds is just what this hippy mech driver needs

Glad to see this added, downloading patch now.

Hope to get some intelligence in these mechs in Test Grounds. All in good time

I was getting really tired of it for a while, but here's what I found really helped with it:

1. Don't play just to earn CB. Don't play just to grind out some XP. Do play because it's fun to walk around in a big stompy robot and shoot at other big stompy robots while they shoot back. In other words don't obsessively check your CB and XP totals after every match to see how much they increased. It will make the game seem like drag. Play because it's fun to play! Making a wise first mech purchase it key here so you don't end up needing to upgrade too soon.

2. Don't sell mechs just to reduce the grind. It may be tempting to speed up the purchase of a new Atlas by selling off that HBK or CENT, but then if you get a little tired of your new Atlas after a while, you won't have anything to switch to to change it up a little. I've got 8 mechs right now, and it's always nice to be able to jump in a Raven after I get tired of big slow mechs, or jump in my AC20 HBK and break faces if I get tired of sniping with Dragons and Catapults. Besides, you get such a low % of your money back when you sell.

I hear ya, its just that gameplay across the same maps over and over is just starting to take the shine out of things. I think the game needs something else to add immersion to the constant deathmatches.

I used to work for a living, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Very true. Some more bigger-ish maps and and attack and defend game mode would be awesome. I'm not so excited about drop ship mode, if it's the same game objectives we have now - it will just be longer versions of the same games.

If they changed Assault to destroying the towers instead of capturing, it would be more fun. Require some real firepower to do it and give them a lot of HP. That would discourage just running lights all over the place, cut back on LRM's since they can't lock on it, result in ammo management (or fewer ballistic weapons). If an entire team is killed off, keep the game going for a minute or two for base destruction for 2x points.
