The reason why your hypothetical analogy is flawed Chivas is the simple fact that IF Il-2 was released in the same state as CloD it would never have achieved legend status in the first place. Ergo the Il-2 series would never have been polular enough to last 6 years and Il-2 1946 would not exist. Quite simply Il-2 would have been a long forgotten footnote in sim history.

Oh and bisher, I'm not striking out at all. Chivas' totally flawed hypothetical scenario simply holds no water whatsoever. We are not dealing with hypothetical scenarios. We are dealing with the reality that CloD has already almost slipped into obscurity and given its current rate of developement it will not last 6 years. Raptor is not the only member of the sim community who has given up on CloD. Even mentioning it on other forums gets replies of derision.

I couldn't even bring myself to try out the latest non-patch because the list of fixes is that pathetic. Even if this excuse of a sim were to get 200 FPS, with its current almost total lack of meaningful content it would still not be worth loading up. When they add some actual SP content and fix the poor FMs then maybe it will be worth a look. I hope to be proved wrong when the next sim in the CloD series gets released. Given that it has taken 18 months of pathetic work by the devs to get to the current sorry state I wont hold my breath on it lasting 6 years, "hypothetical" or otherwise.

You missed my point again, and just filled in your own hypothetical theory which holds even less water.

I think Steam put it at 14k or so. Wouldn't include the RU release obviously.

Your not understanding again. The beta patch wasn't going to have alot of game play fixes. This latest beta patch was released to address the performance, stability issues. Without this fix there would be no point in addressing the game play issues. If this latest beta patch is successful they will then start concentrating on the game play issues. Without these fixes nobody will buy any Sequels, certainly not enough to maintain the development.

BTW the beta patch introduced massive freezes for me. I never had those before, the game basically stops for up to 5 seconds every now and then, usually happens in dogfights.

Love the new MG sounds with this patch-really adds to the immersion for me and I've been waiting for decent sounding machine guns in the Brit aircraft for ages-wonder how long I've been missing out!

No issues with the patch as a whole
FPS good, rocksteady with no crashes and I've been able to increase graphics settings too.

I've always stuck with official patches(just lazy-have been with this series since the halcyon days of the original IL-2 beta),but this beta is a real step forward for me personally, though like some others have posted,I've never had any particular problems with a decidedly average system.
