About a year ago, I picked up DiRT and never even touched it. This last week, I thought I'd give it a whirl...and I'm hooked. I now want a serious rally racing sim, one with a crew chief possessing the most unintelligable Scottish or Finnish accent imaginable. I'm tired of hearing a Californian showboat who's gotten his butt kicked every time he's left the States saying "dude" in my headset.

What I like is that I'm the only guy out there and precision is key, but in an entirely manner than road racing.

Hi Chuck,

Know about this? Not graphically as good as DiRT3, but oh so good.

Richard Burns Rally

RSRBR addon

If you want RSRBR, I'll download the files for you and send it via DVD.

RBR is pretty much the best rally sim that has been made.

It's also really difficult. As much as I enjoy it, I can only enjoy it for about 15 seconds and then I'm enjoying the texture work on the trees from a very close perspective. biggrin

+1

Excrutiatingly difficult but so visceral it's hard not to get hooked.

RBR is brutal and kicked sand in my face. LOL
There are the WRC games, but I haven't played them. Some love it, some don't.
Also you can still find the Colin McRae games cheap.

RBR probably seems like the best option at this point. And, good gravy, that's cheap.

You'd think I was ready for something more challenging...

Perhaps I'm not...

It will definitely be more challenging. Dirt skills won't mean much. The racing school it has is pretty cool.

I just never could get into RBR (with the patches) or Collin McCray. Like Lugnut I was normally studying the trees after my car smashed into them. I don't know what it is but I just never got the hang of them and they sit in their jewel case awaiting the next time I want to give them a try.

I think maybe it's my attention level to learn a long course. I don't like the Nurburgring in rFactor because it takes forever to get around and I have a tough time remembering where I made a mistake (and I make plenty). The only reason I can drive at LeMans is because we've raced so many times there. Give me (dirt or asphalt) a 2-4 mile course and I'll have fun all day. smile
