It's easy to mess up. One has to give credit to 777 Studios for doing it right.

Balloon winching is a very nice feature. Agreed...and what a surprise, too! I find myself diving on one for the first time, only to see it sinking lower and lower beneath my site! What the??? Then it hit me...how very cool. It's the little things like this that make this the sim the best.

P.S. For some odd reason, the ability to preview skins when selecting the planes you want to fly in Quick Missions has been gone for quite awhile now...not tied to this latest patch. Little pop-up window appears with the name of the skin and all...just no picture.
Only me or does anybody else have this issue?
Not a biggie, really.

80% give us more money! 20% features that make the sim better
These don't feel like patches, just DLC releases. I'm sorry, but something has to pay for other improvements. As I have said many times, not enough flight-simmers buy ROF to support oodles of changes and additions for free. As I have also said many times, without our current model, ROF would have died 2 years ago. It's the best we can do. We are not getting rich and we give you what you pay for and then some. As an example - Here is the change log. (omitted) Jason I think you misunderstand. I am OK that there are extra-cost features added along with patch features/fixes. What is weird is that the press release discusses ONLY extra-cost features. You are working to provide free patch content but are not including it in the message! To find out the free parts (which are great and you should be proud to show off) I have to dig and dig and search to find. They are not in the message about the patch/content release! All the information you just told me I did not see anywhere else. It is great that you are providing free fixes also, don't hide it!

Jason,
Let's say that a lot of us would pay for a real improvment of the single player dynamic campaign... more probably than to fly 2 obscure hydroplanes that will mostly be cannon fodder for fighter's scouts. The channel map is nice but most of the front of this war was in eastern France where a lot of early planes (1915-16 scouts, reco and bombers) are more needed. I know that your team put a lot of energy into the new contents but I also understand the frustration for other members who would have prefered... first: SP campaign improvment (a more alive world, real tactics of the era, more diversity, flying among aces,...), new early iconic planes which are deeply missed, graphic improvment on the actual map to make it even more realistic, etc...

I think 777 already did a great step towards a "more alive world" and "graphic improvements on the actual map", because it just released the SDK which documents and allows people to add new buildings and object blocks (e.g. new types of trees, hedges, water towers etc.) to the Rise of Flight world.

I flew a beta career mission last night and my AI wingmen will no longer engage enemy aircraft. Anyone else?

Obscure? The W.12 earned one pilot the Blue Max. The channel map is nice but most of the front of this war was in eastern France where a lot of early planes (1915-16 scouts, reco and bombers) are more needed. Eh, no. There were plenty of squadrons and hence plenty of action on the part of the map 777 is modeling. The map, after all, isn't just the Channel. There's plenty of terrain eastward of the Channel on which people will be able to fly. And of course there's England and thus Home Defence missions.

We get improvements to career mode almost every patch, balloon winching for instance, applied to career straight away.
