Guys - first, thanks for putting this on - I have been away from A-10C and BS for some time whilst flying other sims, so I'm very rusty. I'm doing some local training to try and get back up to speed, but there isn't a lot of time before this kicks off.

Do you have anything against me perhaps grabbing a Shark and on the odd occasion just hanging back and watching/listening?

Bearing in mind, there are not likely to be many peeps on in the day (UK time), when I will perhaps have an opportunity to get a bit more stuck in - but later evenings is likely to be more active.

I never did learn the radios since the patch changed things in the A-10 and datalinking in BS is a distant memory smile

Also, is TARS used?

I have it installed, but have not had the opportunity to use it yet.

Ta.

Oh - my sim nick is "Brixmis"

Come in- fly your heart out... If you're just sticking your toe in to test the water just let the guys know. Perhaps you can take on mop up duties until you get more comfortable. We all ask the occasional question because we all get rusty on different things... But I wouldn't go in there and expect someone to walk you through a startup procedure. Funny I say that because crew walked me through one when I was first getting settled in on the cold starts... With that in mind- guys will help you if they can but don't expect toooooooo much.

Honestly- go on in. Have fun. Talk to the guys- help make the event what it's supposed to be: a full scale community event.

As a quick addition to the above - none of us generally use TARS so the SimHQ teamspeak should be fine!

Looks like I'll be missing out on the first day's flying, unfortunately - a funeral has very suddenly been scheduled for tomorrow duh . I'll try and jump in for a sneaky half hour before I get on my way there!

The latest version of TARS doesn't work with the latest version of Teamspeak 3, unfortunately. The last update on the TARS website (www.ExcessiveHeadspace.com) was in May, when they said they're working on an update for both DCS World AND TS3. I'm guessing they're still working out the kinks. Hope to hear from them, soon though - I loved using TARS and am looking forward to using it in the future!

Thanks thumbsup

I'll be fine with stuff like start-ups for both aircraft - I made myself detailed start-up flow-diagrams for both aircraft when I first bought them and it doesn't take me long to get going.

Communications and the fine detail of systems inter-operability (?) is where my knowledge is currently lacking.

I'll see you on the pan, then smile

I can speak from experience Johhny that Eno's place and the people that hang out there are great for learning to fly A-10 once you've got the basics as it appears you do.

JohnnyD, I'm the Ka-50 squadron commander within the 689th, and have a lot of experience with datalinking, PVI target point entry, and joint air attack teams with A-10's. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to make the entire mission tonight, but do intend to be on station for some of it to assist any other Shark pilots on request.

My callsign in the server will be "Raptor". If you want to touch base with me on the side, you can PM me.

Thanks in advance to XRay and Eno for putting this on, hopefully it will encourage more networking and resourcing within the community.

Thank you for your words of encouragement smile

Raptor, I am unlikely to be on tonight, due to the start time in the UK (01:00) but am likely to be on as much as I can in the weekday evenings here (so about 14:00 to 17:00 EST) - later than that is just not possible for me. Next weekend is probably the best time for bumping into US based pilots. I'll keep an eye out for you then.

I've been watching videos and reading up today and as well as a lot of it coming back to me, I have also learnt some useful new stuff - so a good start.

Currently busy setting up my new Cougar MFDs for BS. They make life so much easier.

Alright! XRay_Specs just kicked off the Sukhumi Week Long Fest with 104th_Moa's Operation Rampant Bear!

Join in for some multiplayer fun - see the schedule for different missions over the week.

The missions will go through about two years of seasons from the brutal winter storm in White Bird to Spring storms in Riders ot Storm to hot summer nights in Ants, and back to winter's Thunder Of Kojori and Back To School for more cold weather.
