Just some background, my current games are: Race 07 (exp: Race On and retro) Richard Burns (RSBR) GTL Live for Speed (not active there)
What caught my attention is the organized racing sched on this forum. I got that the main games used are rFactor and iRacing? I would most probably go with rFactor. If I do I would spend a good deal of time with that game before signing up for an event here.
Questions: 1. How careful are the drivers here? (My sim racing is a bit intertwined with my real life driving habits, e.g. I practice heel and toe in my real car. Thus I'm careful not to lose the sense of danger even in a simulation. I don't want to carry that over in real life.) 2. Any etiquette I should know about?
I have more questions but I think I can answer them for myself once I decide to get rFactor and participate in this community's MP.

The Skoda races would be a great place to start and as for etiquette Just treat others on track with courtesy and fairness as you would expect them to treat you. There is a wide range of abilities here so you should feel comfortable and fit right in. Welcome to SimHQ and I hope to see you on track soon.

As Stew said welcome to SimHQ and the Skodas would be a great way to sink your teeth into the bump and grind part of our racing etiquette... As it's fixed set up tin top racing there's plenty of close door banging racing, but we aren't out to take each other out, just have some close racing... In other series we are far more respectful, but because these Skodas can take a lot of punishment we treat it more like the BTCC...

One more vote for the Skodas! Would love to see you on the track. Don't worry about getting much experience with the game, we have practise races on Saturdays where you can spend some time getting the game setup for your feel. The Teamspeak and game servers stay open too so someone will always be happy to stick around after an event to help you out.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Will definitely get my feet wet with rfactor. Most likely my first aim will be to start with the practice races Ragtop mentioned.
thanks for the link guod. Will sign up asap when I think I'm ready
cool! just bumped into this video, I can't remember how I got there though.
already going through the necessary info at SSTCC forum
