GRID was the successor to the Race Driver series of games from Codemasters, and it was a slick little game and quite fun to play around with.
GRID 2 looks to be more of the same, so I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this one.
I've played a ton of racing sims & games over the years, much of it online. While sims like rFactor and Papy's NASCAR series probably got the most attention, there was a period of time where Race Driver 2 & 3 were all I played, so I have something of a soft spot for the series.

I played TOCA Race Driver 3, that was about it.
The first one of the series was one of the worst games I ever played, though. GRID was...okay...but the AI and physics made it almost impossible for me to enjoy, and I'm not a realism junkie. I hope they've improved it, it seems that F1 2011 was an improvement over 2010, so there's hope.

Damn, I've got quit coming here....gonna bite a hole in my tongue if I don't.

TBH I usually don't race with that on either. It gives me the impression of driving from the backseat because of the size of my monitor and the distance I sit from it (2+ feet). Plus in most race cars there's little to see other than a tach and temp gauge, and I don't need half my viewing area taken away by the surroundings to get that when I can easily use a HUD for it.
In my own car, I have to turn my head to see the dash, either down or sideways. When I look forwards, I see a bit of the rearview mirror, the hood, and maybe the top of the dash and the wheel. That's why I generally race from what is called in various titles "hood", "action", "no cockpit", or something else.
However, TOCA 3 and GRID left me flat, (not sure why when Race Driver 2006 on my PSP really hooked me), so GRID 2 is one of those "maybe I'll get it on a big sale a couple of years after release, maybe not" games.

If relying on server info, they aren't taking into account the single player gamers. Not everyone goes online to race. Why would you want to risk instantly losing even 5% of your sales anyway? A large majority of players use a gamepad, are they going to use that excuse to drop wheel support too?
Without BOTH of those features, this is a no-buy for me, even on a cheap sale.
