I've reduced autogen variety in my FSX install and run it silky smooth with maxed out trees and houses...on three year old hardware.

Looks nice. I heard a lot of good stuff about simsavy, although ive never tried it.
I have a lot of Megascenery earth tiles in my FSX instal, which look nice, but coverage is spotty and its expensive.

The amount of enjoyment, from this, will be determined by the kind of flying you like, I would think. If all you do are the high flyers, airliners, B-52'...etc., this should work well.
If you like jumping around to different little airports in your A2A Cub, then not so much.
