Can someone who knows how to, lay a bit of double railway track near any airfield they like [does not need to be very long], and place two different new numbered Tmod termini, at the ends of the lines. Then add different new numbered signal boxes near the termini. Then place a road crossing model, and a small station model alongside the lines. You'll just need to renumber the Tmods I've posted at the GEN so you'll have enough for now. It's important you use new numbered Tmod slots, as I want to test various sets of models.

Then I'd like a group of 8 tmods [all new numbers] to form a village near the railway station.

I desperately need this setup so I can test my new models for scale, and so the fit the railways correctly. I've tried to do this for myself, but the results have been very poor, and nothing like Pobs, Ray and Tony can do in the blink of an eye. wink

ASAP please! exitstageleft

Building models is easy. biggrin

I have made two double tracks near Biggin Hill.
Do you need them closer to the airfield?
Nothing else loaded yet.

I have been trying to find the TMods, but cannot find them all. Please send me the links again in a PM.

Hitting the sack for now.

Everything is working except for the level crossing which causes a CTD when loaded. It is something related to the bmp/tpc set up because it displayed if I reduced the bmp to 256x256. I have not positioned the crossing properly. I will send you complete working set ups for flying, and for editing with the target editor.
The TMods I used were

260: FrenchStation
261: TerminusV2
262: LevelX
263: SigBox

The HR teminus remained as TMod07_" without alteration.

The original TMod files were renamed as expected, but one extra thing I had to do was to copy the single TModXYZ.dat file which corresponded to the original TMod, and rename the copy with the new number.
For example as the signal box was "TMod27_ etc" so I copied "TMod027.dat" which is in my folder of extracted TModXYZ.dat files and renamed the copy "TMod263.dat".

Hi Tony.

The track just needs to be easy to find, that's why I thought of placing it near an airfield.

All the links are in the railway stuff post on the GEN. You must have the terminus, but I'd just like two different numbered ones at each end of the line, but they can be the same model. Likewise, the signal box, and French station models can be used, but just place them in two different slots. The road crossing just needs to be centered between the tracks, so I can build the model so it sits either side of the double track.

I've not posted any of the houses yet, so just use the default single house in 8 new numbered slots, somewhere close to the wayside station.

I have spent hours trying to place the level crossings frown
The TMod causes a CDT when loaded unless I use a 256x256 "SCross.bmp" and a 128x128 "SCrosss.bmp" because I think that their corresponding TPC files are those sizes instead of 512x512 and 266x256.
Consequently the graphic detail is reduced in quality
.
Here is a picture:
1. I think I see two "green" boom gates, and if so they are not far enough apart to accommodate even a single track.
2. What are the other structures? The ones which I think are meant to me ramps running across the road look like low walls.

I could have completely misinterpreted what I see, so for the moment I await your advice smile
It would be good to have the correct TPC files which work with the full size bmp files. I cannot make them using Win 7 because the picpac family of programs will no longer run.

I just checked the other threads and saw this:

Checking the bmp files they look right, but I see nothing like that on screen.

Please send me one that is working well on your PC smile

Hi Tony.

Your using a PCX, which it 24bit, not 8bit, and you need the EAW pallet to be applied to it, before converting to TPC. wink

The BMP probably just need to be opened in Paintshop, and saved in BMP format again. I use an old program which saves in a BMP format, but it's for some reason not quite the same as BMP in Paintshop, which works in EAW.

The French Station is supposed to be a wayside station not a Terminus. wink

To save lots of confusion, I've done a little graphic.

Important point is the crossing is centered between the lines. It does not matter if the current model looks small or off set. I'll fix that. wink

The length between termini make 10 miles. wink

Sorry for any confusion.

John.
I have written several times that your files in the "Level Crossing.rar" download cause a CTD.
To try to avoid the CTD I renamed SCROSSs.bmp as SCROSS.bmp thereby making SCROSS.bmp 256x256 to see if it worked.
It did, but I cannot use your original 512x512 SCROSS.bmp.
I have not been using PCX files.
All your other TMods work, but I need a set of level crossing files from you which have a 512x512 SCROSS.bmp and a corresponding TPC file which work together.

I was just thinking it might be a file compression problem, so try this Zip, not RAR.

I hope this works. smile

BIG SORRY Tony!

I'm a bit of a Numpty at times and today is no exception. I put it down to the kids being on holiday, and driving me bonkers.

Anyway, problem fixed.

http://www.mediafire.com/?cpibeh01zbm812h

I'd not resized the 'S' PCX so the matching BMP and TPC were different sizes, and that caused your CTD.

The reason it works on my PC is I have 512x512 and 256x256 dummy files loaded in my EAW setup, so I never test 8bit anymore, as it looks rubbish on my PC. I forgot you need all the correct TPC's for testing in a completely new slot.

Well the zip seemed to work and as a result I have been tweaking the editor.
I'll try the new files.
One thing that I have established is that the lines need a minimum separation of 8 metres, otherwise the graphics overlap and you are likely to see just 3 rails.

Hi Tony.

That's good to know. 8 meters is a bit wide, as in reality is only 2 meters [known in Britain as the six foot], but in Europe it can be wider.

EAW was never designed as a rail Sim, but the railways played a vital role in WWII, and we spend loads of time getting the planes right, so why not spend a bit of time getting the ground war looking better. wink

Currently these are the appropriate placements for the level crossing. The tracks are running horizontally across the picture and are 16 metres apart which is exactly 1 pixel. I have one south of the track facing north and another north of the track facing south.

The difference between the two positions is 2.25 pixels or 36 metres
The centre point is 18 metres or 1.125 pixels which puts a reference line 0.125 pixels above the bottom line.

That might help as a guide for placement in future.
