LRRP on the Perfect server (Night Op)

So I went on a LRRP to Shangri La late Sunday night alone. I stopped off at our favorite supermarket and loaded up on canned food and soda for the journey. It was a long trek skirting the towns and cities as I made my way towards my destination. I hit a few deer stands looking for some extra STANAG mags, but no-joy with that. It rained off and on and it was cold, so I used heat packs as necessary to stay warm. When I ran out of those, I stopped and built a fire periodically to warm up.

I'm closing in on the location where the tent camp is located moving slowly, quietly and checking for other players with the thermals. I go prone concealed by some pine trees and watch for any activity for several minutes. Nothing. I move to a tent and quickly check it. I come out of the inventory and back away a few steps. Here come a player running into view in a wookie suit with a handgun pointed at me. I think we were both surprised! He stopped about 5 meters away and did not shoot immediately. Maybe he thought that I was one of their group? I'm wearing a ghillie suit too. A few seconds passed then he shot and missed and I opened up with the L85 shooting from the hip, watching the rounds impact his chest and emptied the mag. Blood was spouting out of his chest, but he did not drop and he did not shoot. I reloaded and quickly evaluated the situation. I decided to disco thinking this player must be cheating or running some kind of hack.

I made note of the player names that were on the server when I left. A few remained up to an hour later. Were they players watching their camp or just coincidence? It was early Monday morning and the night time servers were all low player counts. Some of those same players are on Perfect this morning. Again, watching their camp? It is possible. Be very careful if you plan to visit that location anytime soon.

You probably killed him. Sometimes the body glitches out and does not fall over. if you could have seen his face he would have been all bloodies like a dead guy just standing there. The wookie suit makes it hard to tell though.

Your sir, can have my beans :}

thumbs up for a solo recon run to the N, gearing for the trip and having the good luck to win a duel after being a good spot and letting him have the first shot .

Did you get any loot ?

Did you get a kill in your "Debug Monitor" brown box?

I did score some loot from the camp prior to my PVP encounter. I recognized the area/camp from a previous raid we did with the group. This morning I was writing my AAR for the forum and Airdog joined Teamspeak. So we agreed to rendevous on Jenny which was dark at the time. When I logged in I noticed I had a murder on the debug monitor, so the player was indeed killed. Like Master mentioned in the post above, he died standing up. I've never seen that before. I worked my way back NW around the water and then SW to hook up with Airdog on the ATV. We found more tents on the return trip and scored some good loot including 2 ghillie suits. Airdog and I stopped at the factory to try and locate some vehicle parts. Death Jester and Falstar met us there later. We returned the ATV to the car park and logged. It was an enjoyable and successful trip for me.

My intentions when I planned the trip were to collect enough food/soda/heat packs to sustain my character and then get used to using the thermals. Also, I'm in the market for a silenced assault rifle and a load of SD STANAG mags.

Regarding the kill: I was scanning up hill with the thermals so I had decent line of sight for the target area. I did not detect any players, so that player may have spawned into or nearby the camp when I was looking in a tent. He may have belonged to the group that runs that camp or he could have been another raider.

cheers

It could have been Reschke. I have been replaying the encounter through my mind this morning to try and determine what happened. The tent that I was raiding had the open flaps pointed down hill and I was crouched down in front of it looking at the inventory. He came running at the tent from up hill so I don't think he saw me until the very last second when I came out of the crouch. If he had seen me from up hill he could have gone prone and waited for me to move. It would have been an easy kill with an assault rifle or long gun.

I'm not sure. This camp has a very prominent bald hill that rises up in a clearing above the camp outside the forest. We set-up a raid there recently looking down on the tent camp with that hill behind us. I can't recall if you were there or not. It may have been two weeks ago or more.

I had to load that image up into GIMP to lighten it up just so I could make out my character there. That is a damn nice image Moose.

Very cool pic Reschke. I had to look at it for a minute to understand what I was seeing.
