Reading this brings up so many feelings in me but all I will say is that I'll take this with an open mind and see what Bryan Singer does with the property. http://airlockalpha.com/node/9307/has-battlestar-galactica-film-found-peace-among-fans.html

The first two X-Men movies were great, Superman Returns, not so much, so I'm not sure what to think of Singer as a director.
But the way the last couple of seasons of the SyFy series were handled left a bad taste in my mouth, so maybe this will be an improvement.

"The Usual Suspects" is another great one of his IMHO.

Yes, that was good too. I didn't do a check of his movies and had forgotten about that one.

"Superman Returns" is such an odd movie for me because I didn't find any problem at all with the acting or the production values but I always felt like something intangible was missing from the film. There just wasn't anything memorable about it.

I agree. I didn't really like the story that much, and no one was very interesting, and I just never got a sense of excitement about what was happening. And I didn't like the whole thing about Superman having a kid

I'll agree to an extent about SR. On paper (I guess you could say "the script") it seems like it should work. The casting seemed spot-on other than IMO the worst Lois Lane ever. However, even the scenes without her fail to work.
No, wait. Many of the scenes DO work. They just seem to not add up to a cohesive whole.
Don't get me wrong, I think it was still a better Superman film than 3 or 4. The ONLY good thing about 4 being Gene Hackman's appearance. Superman 3 was a nice Richard Pryor film, with Superman in a guest role.
So while the first 2 Supermans were better than SR, it was still the 3rd best of the 5.
Another issue is Christopher Reeve is IMO the only actor who perfectly nailed the duality of Kent and Kal-El. Routh was ok, but the 2 were a lot closer. George Reeves, meh. His Clark Kent was "Superman with a hat and glasses". We'll see how Cavill does, but I don't think he'll be another Reeve. Maybe he'll be better than Routh, maybe not, but Christopher WAS Superman.

Sounds good to me. I didn't realize Moore had been involved with Carnivale. Excellent show that I wish HBO hadn't cut off. So this will be a feature movie, not a pilot?
Superman Returns was a wasted opportunity, although not horrible. Having Lois married was a mistake, and him being a likable person was a bigger mistake. The mop haired super kid was a HUGE mistake. Otherwise the cast was well done, Routh in particular. Also they didn't really go into how he traveled to Krypton, just kind of glossed over it. The whole idea of him leaving for a few years without explanation (and Clark) was hard to swallow too.

Correct. I'll most likely see it opening weekend for mostly the sheer curiosity to see how exactly it blends the BSG of Larson with the BSG of Moore.

Sounds interesting. At least there is genuine talent at the helm, instead of some mediocrity.
