Howdy all DCS World users!

To further develop the strong knowledge sharing culture we have here at SimHQ, I will be hosting a workshop this Tuesday at 0230 GMT (7:30pm PDT, 10:30pm EDT) to walk attendees through a full ramp start procedure in DCS A-10C. See the list of pre-requisites below for the link. This is not a "tactical" workshop and there will not be a strict enforcement of formal communication brevity codes or self-imposed "military-ish" protocols, but respect for the learning environment and other users (and the SimHQ Forum Use Agreement!) will be strictly enforced. To ensure consistency of the training experience for this particular workshop, a common checklist will be used. Shoot To Kill, but Play to Have Fun!

There is no need to register or RSVP. Mission slots are on a first come, first serve basis. Check into the appropriate SimHQ TeamSpeak 3 channel no later than 0230 GMT to reserve your place in the mission. After that time, the TS3 channel will be locked to ensure an uninterrupted experience for those who checked in on time. I will be streaming the event via LiveStream at www.livestream.com/EinsteinEP for folks who aren't able to join up directly. A record of the event will stay with the channel for as long as I have the account space to keep it!

Workshop Title:
A-10C Cockpit Systems Familiarization and Ramp Start in DCS A-10C v1.2.0

Objective:
Familiarization with the systems in the A-10C cockpit and the ability to conduct a full ramp start procedure from a cold aircraft up through takeoff using a checklist.

Date and Time:
Tuesday, August 7, 0230 GMT (7:30pm PDT, 10:30 EDT).

Requirements and pre-requisites:
While this workshop is open to folks of all skill levels, I would encourage the more experienced pilots to reserve slots for intro-level pilots or pilots who have never dared a ramp start before. In the event of overflow, folks can run a local mission on their own PC and still participate in the workshop via Teamspeak 3.

Do you have a specific request or idea for a future Workshop? Send me a PM with your suggestions and ideas.

We'll see you Tuesday!

This is a great idea! I was going to ask that you record it (I won't be able to attend), glad you already thought of it. The videos Krause has done for BMS have been immensely helpful to me. Even if there are several covering the 'same' material, the variances from one person to another both in instructional method as well as specific steps they take to accomplish something can be very interesting.

Unfortunately, I'm not a good "recorded instructor". I need a group to interact with.

No better person to run it that's for sure. Props to Einstein for taking the initiative.

To those who aren't sure- einstein took me under his wing a few times and is very detail orientated but extremely patient and very apt at explaining what he's wanting you to do. For example- he may tell you to refer to a certain button and give a location like: to the left of the (unfamiliar term here). Don't hesitate to tell him- uh, where?? I can assure you that he has 10 different ways of explaining the location of something.

And not to speak on his behalf but if you're going to attend- do yourself a favour: understand what you're doing before you leave. If you're in there afraid to ask a question, you'll be taking up a spot that someone else could be using who might make the experience worthwhile.

Just sayin.

Ditto on the props for Einstein. He got me sorted a few weeks back with entering JTAC coordinates into the CDU and made my MP flight much more enjoyable. Good luck with the work shop and glad to see you are doing this.

Shouldn't the time be 1430 GMT? 0230 GMT is long past, but there is no recording yet on the livestream page.

Never mind, it tomorrow, so 8. August 0230 GMT. Damn timezones.

It it wasn't so late I would have loved to sit in and provide, if asked, the real world crew chief perspective.

Great times! Although we had just one participant (CAVCPT) show up, he got one heck of a personalized workshop! Two hours of ramp start joy, and that didn't even include taxiing!
