ATOC and PPAA.. new settings in the video options.. could someone just give me a heads up on what these settings are, and what I should be looking to set them at with a GTX 570 card?

in the ArmA 2 installation folder are 2 readme files, readme_fxaa and, readme_smaa.

read those.

PPAA is post processing anti-aliasing.

smaa and fxaa are new and improved ways to anti-alias the image in games, with less impact on framerates than older methods of anti-aliasing.

you can also check this page for the explanation of the settings in the ArmA2.cfg file: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg

AToC is Alpha-To-Coverage Anti-Aliasing.

i found this page that explains AToC and gives some examples of the different settings: http://www.10-78.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27601

PPAA and AToC can improve/alter the quality of the image in ArmA 2/OA.

AA set to normal with no ATOC, and no post process AA is looking best IMO.

I will ignore all ideas for new works and engines of war, the invention of which has reached its limits and for whose improvement I see no further hope.

What are you on about? ATOC is what makes the trees look like, well, trees, and not something poorly cut out and pasted on the screen. Except if they changed anything on the settings.

Well, I don't agree. smile

Without ATOC, here in my rig (ATI 7850 2GB), the trees dont look real, and far away the leaves become transparent. With ATOC on "7" (everything) you have realistic trees all over your view radius.
