I respect all the members of the community here and all the dedication and love that you have given this sim. But I dont have it in me to go through that pain again.

These type of posts seem to strike me as more productive for the community. If you've moved on, then just move on. Nobody needs to hear your whinging anymore.

I feel your pain. The idea behind the game were great, and although I'm giving up hope, somewhere I wish someone decent could take over development and get this back on track. Performance seems to have been greatly fixed now, but there's so many other details that are crap, there's literally something wrong in each item you could look at, sound, FM, DM, weather, etc. Come back in 3-4 years, hopefully we'll have a decent community and game by then!

It has been a painfully long experience, watching the building of the new game engine. But you have to ask yourself if the original first installment of the IL-2 series was released unfinished, but ended up being the very successful IL-2 1946, what would you have missed by not playing it.

I think enough has been done for performance, it's at least as good as the period before the E-4 was introduced again. They really need to focus on some of the game aspects, FM/DM/FMB/AI. Glad they have moved a step forward again, it's been awhile.

Hypothetical questions don't work in this scenario. Il-2 was released in 2001 and was far more polished than CloD on first release. The only technical issue I can remember was that I had to purchase a Gforce 2 to see it in all its glory. It had very limited SP gameplay due to the lack of a dynamic campaign, but it did work. It even had working radio commands and everything. It was patched far faster and far more effectively than CloD has been.

Essentially Raptor could have played Il-2 immediately upon release. At the very least it had working MP code and logical MP interface that worked OOTB. It did not take 6 years until the release of Il-2 1946 to fix it.

You missed my point.

Yes a completed CLOD means a lot of potential realized, be a shame to miss out on the fun.

No I didn't, I got your point entirely. You are using a hypothetical scenario to demonstrate why you think Raptors stance could backfire, when (if) CloD gets fixed. My point is that this hypothetical scenario is flawed because the timescale between the release of Il-2 and Il-2 1946 was 6 years. If CloD takes 6 years to fix then it will be a colossal failure IMHO.
