Quick patch notes

Extensive investigation showed that crashes were often connected with the “not officially supported” weather module. Examining some user-made missions from some online servers showed that people were using the functionality extensively. We’ve temporarily disabled it which appears to resolve a large number of online crashes.

The investigation also shows that a disproportionately large number of crashes happens while a web browser with a flash video or audio (such as youtube) is open in the background. We recommend temporarily closing your web browser, or at the very least any tabs with open flash audio or video, while playing the game.

A Effects setting was thoroughly rewritten. Setting Effects to Medium will greatly increase average FPS on most machines without greatly affecting visual quality. Note that this setting also affects the visual appearance of clouds.

Many changes to the Flight Model were made, and the work still continues. Please note that the general performance of the British aircraft is much closer to desired envelope, but the information shown on the Boost gauge is scaled incorrectly at the moment.
Known issues: temporarily disabled cloud shadows again; hit decals may appear glitched; some steam effects like punctured water radiators and wing vortices also temporarily disabled.

The main goal of this version of the patch is, once again, to locate and fix any remaining crash bugs. Please continue sending in your logs and crash dumps to ishevchenko@1cpublishing.eu

Please enable logging in your conf.ini (Log=1). If the game crashes, send us the log file it creates in your [My Documents]\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder, and any .dmp files created in a cppdump folder under the main game installation.

We recommend installing the patch on top of a clean steam installation. To ensure your steam install is clean, please right-click the game in the steam library, and select Properties – Local Files – Verity Integrity of Game Cache.

Cheers Boko - perhaps put the date in the thread title, I've got a feeling it might not be the last patch? (or IS IT!??!) smile

Downloading now..

Edit: 324MB of pure evil.

Edit2: Orig thread (as people will post mirrors there I guess too):

Be careful Frog, you may be Fearless, but I bet you're not evil-proof. explode

If the evil gets me, how will we tell?

The torrent is pretty quick so far. When it finally plops down (hopefully in 10mins) then I'll upload it somewhere else as the other plain links seems fairly overloaded (for a dead sim). smile

There are some quite obvious signs with 'sudden onset evilness'

1. You will grow a small goatee
2. You will start laughing at odd moments when nothing was really funny.
3. You may be tempted to collect stamps.

I'm downloading now from one of the torrents. As you said, a couple of the other links were 404'd.
There are more links up now in the OP at 1C as you suggested there would be. Must be one for each player!

Reminder:

- Use Steam to reset back your install to pre-patch with
- Right click on IL-2 Cliffs of Dover in library
- ..Properties
- 'Local Files' tab at top
- 'Verify Integrity..' button

This will reset all files that other betas changed, i.e. check and download/install the differences.

- Reset your graphics cache (maybe the patch does it, but can't hurt):
- Go to X:\Users\YourName\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder
- Delete or just rename the 'cache' directory (a new one gets created when you run next time).

Works so far. Settings:

Enabled on 1 screen at 1680x1050 just to get started.

Solid 50 FPS in cockpit, solid 60 FPS on external view over land (Quick mission, free flight england). Seems ok. I'll try more aircraft and eyefinity now - plus use FRAPs rather than ingame counter.

Performance seems good to me. Higher than both RoF and DCS on the same system/resolution..

Try setting your effects to Medium Frog? See if you get a fps boost? Med is suppose to look similar to High but give a boost to fps? Then do a test and see if theirs slow down in clouds and dust.
