Help with LOMAC CCRP bombing mode

Dear Members,
I'm currently playing the original LOMAC - not Flaming Cliffs. I can't get into CCRP bombing mode. I've watched some tutorials and read some written descriptions, to no avail. I can do CCIP bombing with no difficulty. The problem with CCRP is that I do not have the "dashed circle" (Depressible Pipper) on my HUD, referred to in the tutorials - the one that can be moved with the period, comma, slash, and semi-colon keys. I understand I am to maneuver the Depressible Pipper over the target and then hit Enter to fix it on that point, then just over fly the target and the bomb will automatically release. The big question: why do I not see a "dashed circle" (Depressible Pipper) on my HUD?
Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Yours, Kagle

Hi Kagle, welcome to SimHQ! I'm guessing you're talking about the A-10A, right? I normally only fly Russian fast movers, but I know a little bit about moving mud from other sims.
Is it possible that perhaps the pipper is outside the range of the HUD? If you're low/ slow when you're making your attack pass, you'll see the azimuth steering line, but won't be able to see the pipper itself because you wouldn't have a release cue until you're almost right on top of the target. Try maybe flying higher/ faster and coming at the target in a shallow dive?
A bit more details about which plane/ which loadout/ attack profile would help out. Good luck!

Thanks, NavyNuke --- yes, I'm flying the A10. I'll try your suggestion ---- maybe I don't have enough altitude to see the Depressible Pipper - that's the essence of it, right?
Yours, kagle
NavyNuke --- I tried coming in high - about 5000 feet - still no Depressible Pipper (dashed circle). If I go into a dive, I get the Pipper on the ground and the azimuth flight line turns solid - so I'm all good with CCIP mode. Was the CCRP mode included only in a later patch or upgrade? I got both LOMAC and the Flaming Cliffs (2.0 I think) in the same package - I think that's the Gold version. I never patched or upgraded either piece of software. On the video tutorial, the Depressible Pipper is clearly showing at the beginning of the video - I've never seen it in my version of LOMAC. (I'm dropping four heavy LDGP bombs - I can't remember the model number - standard heavy bombs in the sim).
I also tried at 10,000 feet - still no Depressible Pipper.
Thanks for any help.
Yours, kagle

OK, Lock On Gold is Flaming Cliffs 1- easy way to tell- when you pull up the world map, does it include the Crimean Peninsula (Ukraine) as well as Russia and Georgia? I haven't played FC1 in a while, but I can pull out my manual and see about helping you later tonight or tomorrow... Also, I'm thinking here- are you sure the A-10 has a CCRP mode? Usually that requires one to be locked on to some point on the ground, and since the A-10A has no native onboard sensors aside from the seeker heads of any Mavericks it might be carrying, I'm thinking you might be confusing it with another plane. But again, I haven't flown the A-'hog, so I'm kinda guessing here.
Anybody else got any tips in the meantime?

OK here's the deal - I don't think CCRP is modelled in the original LOMAC. The video tutorial I saw online was actually from LOMAC Flaming Cliffs 2. There, I tried out CCRP - and it is modelled there, and I had no problem using it. So thanks for your help, NavyNuke!

Happy to be of service! Also, have you tried out DCS: A-10C? Lots more fun moving mud, and lots more people online too.

Yours, kagle Hi, kagle, It seems that I might be of some assistance as I still play the old LOMAC v. 1.02. Even though my a/c of choice is the Eagle, I remembered the CCRP mode was modelled, working and rewarding in A-10. I've taken the Warthog on a ride in the Quick Mission to refresh my memory. You select the A/G/ mode by hitting '7'. When you select your bombs ('D') a vertical dashed bomb drop line should appear on the HUD, ending with the bomb pipper which typically is not visible unless you're in a dive. But THE aiming aid which is really important at this point is the bomb aiming reticle in the form of a small dashed circle with a dot in the middle. This is slewable across your HUD by means of the keyboard or your stick's hat if you have assigned such a function to it. Select your target (acquire it visually); for practice purposes make it a building or a structure (a cluster of oil tanks makes for a spectacular fireworks), slew the aiming reticle over it and press your target lock button, or TAB on the keyboard. The circle will mark your selected target as a small rectangle with a dot in the middle, and it will stay on target as you manoeuvre. Now, align your flight path with the target marker and press 'o' on the keyboard (the letter 'o', not zero). The bomb drop line will now become solid, with the pipper visible at its end, and with the target rectangle on top of it. Your role is now limited to flying the aircraft perfectly aligned with the target position. Fly straight and level, or make a very shallow dive, but don't press your pickle button at any point. You will notice that, at a certain distance from the target, the marker starts travelling down the bomb drop line. As it reaches the centre of the pipper, the bombs will fall. Do bear in mind though, that even a slight deviation of your flight path off the target will cause your on board computer to rebel and the bombs will not be dropped. I hope I've made myself clear, even though I only studied EFL. Best of luck, and happy flying Regards, Tomasz
