The grand daddy of flight sims doesn't warrant its own dedicated forum?

I don't think we have enough civil sim post volume to need separate subforums IMHO.

Also the few of us who fly other stuff (XP10, Flight) still continue to use FSX.

It is actually nice that SimHQ is one of the few flight sim forums where users of FSX, Flight, X-Plane can all co-exist in the same subforum and discuss things in a decent manner without the conversation turning into a religious war.

Um...we will have to agree to disagree on that one. I've tried XP and it is no FSX.

We used to but with all the FSX dominate forums traffic here was/is very light.

I guess "up to this point," although I don't know what you mean about XP10 so no idea.

That makes sense. Thanks Dave.

No biggie Ice. I just figured that FSX should have its own forum, and actually thought XP should too. In any case, Dave pretty much explained that this was the case at one point, but not enough posts to warrant it.

Yeah..I tried to shepherd along an X-Plane forum for a couple years and we had some great participation from some regulars, but in the end result it just didn't have enough movement in it. I'm sure we can revisit it again at some point perhaps.

Civvie flightsim is civvie flightsim. The planes might behave a bit differently, the UI might be different, the scenery might be lacking...but in the end, you're just flying the plane of your choice from A to B, using standard procedures like radio navigation and patterns.

Also, having them all in one subforum is a nice way to promote (possible) alternatives to MSFS.

I'd love for us to have dedicated FSX and XPlane forums, but as Dave and Chris said earlier... Better to have one active General Aviation forum. wink

TOH has much lower viewing, yet it has it's own subforum...

Agreed on the TOH forum. It is an endangered species and will probably be consolidated if traffic doesn't pick up in it.

We've tried 3-4 times before to have a dedicated FSX forum, but there just wasn't enough sustained traffic.

If a forum doesn't remain active with a few posts each month as a minimum, it gets archived or consolidated.

Maybe there will be enough FSX traffic now that Flight has augered-in. What say the rest of you? FSX dedicated forum (for a 5th attempt) or not?

Not for me, I don't mind having it mixed with FS9 and X-Plane. I wouldn't prefer to have TOH merged into this one though.
