I'm holding on to mine but its taking up three precious inventory slot.

Is the Hive able to cope yet with folks pitching new tents and have they fix the problem with tent stuff not saving after logout ?

I'm reading the DayZ forum and it seems people are still having problems with tents. I don't know if they are not saving them after adding/taking an item or what the issue is. They say they load their stuff in a tent and the next day it is gone. Maybe it was a raid on their tent? Anyway, I don't see anything in the next update regarding tents. To be on the safe side, pitch your tent and put a low value item in it. Save the tent afterwards. Check it in a day or so and see if the item is still in it.

Saving on server reboot seems to be really hit and miss. We're just running more tents now, and experiencing the problems more.

Another bug with tents is evident on the messed up camp on Rebel. I attempted to find a good spot for a tent I had... put it up several times, looked around it, decided that spot sucked and packed it up again. Server had 2 tents when I finally saved my new tent.

Come back a day later, there's like 8 tents there... every place I put the tent down to test now has a tent. Unintentionally duped. Sucks cuz some of them are in bad spots, the latest code wont let us hide them in trees like we used to. I can't figure out a method that successfully destroys tents after server restart either. Run them over, and they'll be back after reboot. Maybe just not using them for a week will clean them up, but I'm not even sure that works.

Spent sometime last night reading the DayZ forums for a solution and noted the following from a few members:-

1. On some servers, after pitching camp, leave the tent empty and allow at least one full cycle of server-shutdown-reboot before the tent will work properly; and

2. Tent duplication appears to occur if the tent had been repacked and unpacked. What this suggest is you avoid duplication if you pitch a new tent once and never repack it again to move it to another location.

I don't know how reliable are these suggestions, so I'm going to test them out and report back here. Cannot play for the next couple of days though due to simracing commitments with my LAN group. Meantime I'm using UH-1 in Arma2 singleplayer armoury to tour Chernaurus to scope out some potential camping spots. It's the one sure way to familiarize myself with Chernaurus in relatively safety. I'm pretty handy now with nap-of-earth on the Huey. If you ever need a pilot and don't mind some low as snakeshit reckless flying, feel free to drop me a line wink
