All that the 3 GB patch does is allow any one program access to more RAM (up to 3 GB) than is normally allowed under XP. Since the OP has a video card with 2 GB VRAM, then that already takes up 2 GB of the total 4 GB possible with 32 bit XP memory address. He is screwed without upgrading to a 64 bit OS.

AND YES, all of us on New Wings server were kicked off on Sunday with that error, though I suspect it was server-side.

I've never loaded any mods for RoF, so that wouldn't be my issue.

Bandy, I forgot, but I do believe we were in New Wings at the time. It was the only place with a crowd at that time. sigh
