my sources say they dont OC too well because of the Turbo feature, which cannot be disabled.

NV 670/680 actually do overclock fine, maybe not as much as the AMD 7950/7970, but all you have to do is max out the Turbo voltage throttling setting, check overclock.net for details, a nice results thread here:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1258815/rock-heaven-your-hardest-670-680-users/0_50

You admitted AMD guys might want to ease up on passing the questionable Nvidia rumors lately biggrin ... the 7970 rocks fine and is a great value in comparison, no need to dump on the 670/680.

Speaking as a skeptic non-biased AMD + Nvidia fan who is starting to feel like there is an anti-Nvidia bias in some of the graphics posts here lately... hoping we can avoid biases since I love this hardware subforum and love discussing this stuff with fellow hardware geeks like you guys and don't want to have to go to the PWEC subforum to discuss Nvidia/AMD hehe.

Agree with lack of bias approach smile

Just posted because it might affect OC considerations for some folks. People need to know what's allowed and what's not.

Actually, I always figured if I OC and it breaks -- that's my problem -- regardless of brand name. In fact, AMD made that explicit. So, in that sense, the Nvidia rumor was "not a big deal" to me.

I am slightly surprised it turned out to be partly-false (i.e. does not directly affect end-users as speculated in rumor). Normally, the "rumor sites" get things closer to right.

Why post rumors? A person can make/save a lot of money (investing or planning procurements) even if the "rumors" are only true 80 percent of the time -- which is why good rumor sites (those with relatively few false rumors) have many readers around the world.

Cool Allen, I actually don't mind the rumors as long as we treat them all with the skepticism that they deserve biggrin

Especially these days where it seems both AMD and Nvidia sadly seem to "leak" out lots of false stuff to help stall buying decisions while they try to catch up with the competition, and there's lots of these Fudzilla/Semiaccurate sites that don't mind publishing the stuff even knowing it's probably BS just to get the hits.

As long as we all keep our skepticism and neutrality it can be good fun and even useful thumbsup

I saw a Snippet about S3 trying to come back to Mainstream Gaming GPUs... might have to look into that a bit more.. or was it SiS? i think it was S3.
