Guys, I have heard all the good things about ch joysticks. Ther are a few game port edition fighters ticks on eBay. How do these stack up when used with a game port to USB converters? Is it worth it since the sticks seem very cheap as they are old connectivity?

USB gameport adapter are usually crappy, You could consider to perform a USB conversion by gutting the stick an placing a new board in it.

I'd just avoid the hassle of a converter and just get a USB model.

I tried an ancient CH flightstick with the gameport->USB converter that came with my Logitech stick. Didn't work at all; no buttons, no directions, nothing.

That said, the converter works perfectly fine with the Logitech stick and the 15+ years old CH stick worked perfectly fine when tested on an old PC with soundcard gameport.

Best place for such questiopns is certainly CH Hangar:

Old Logitech dual format (usb gameport) had a dummy converter but the actual USB circuitry was housed in the joystick.
There are commercial gameport to USB adapter but most of the are very poor when it comes to precision i had one that was 8 bit per axis but actually give out less than 120 discrete positions.
