Hi all,

I recently started flying again having neglected OFF for a month or so, and, alas, the force feedback element of my beloved Sidewinder FFB2 had gone walkies in the meantime. I've deleted the program from my Win 7 system and tried to reinstall from CD, and it's telling me that it's not compatible, which is bollocks because I've had it loaded and working previously from the CD.

What's the trick get round this, so I can have my lovely FFB Sidewinder 2 back to where it should be?

Cheers,
Si

Simon you shouldn't need any software in Windows 7? Windows should detect it.
I have one (USB version) and never installed any software. Try another USB port and just plug it in and see what happens.

Doublecheck that Force Feedback is turned on in Workshop Upper right corner 2 down

PS . . That stick has the WORST Rudder Response off all of'em. I hope you';re using Pedals

I've got the disc in question . . it doesn't really serve a purpose . ..it CLAIMS to regulate the power. . it Don't

Since all microsoft flight sims can program it's button function from within the sim itself, it's as useless as tits on a Bull

Sometimes it installs, sometimes it don't. My disc is from W98se

It was never made with WWI Aircraft in mind. when it was introduced the hotty was Janes WWII Fighter, hardly intense rudder use, Jets even less

To see it for yourself, try Float View . . . Shift+F6 That's looking at your exterior from behind and of to one side . . Now move your twisty stick, you'll see the rudder move

Also it has a distinct shortage of buttons but as a FFB stick, it has no equal

There is a way to add 6 buttons and a throttle for your left hand, if you're interested ask

It's only if you're really up to it, as the part goes $50 USD at Amazon, but at Amazon UK it goes for over 57 pounds. . that's $90 USD
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Basic Stuff. . You'd be amazed how many times, people forget to plug the stick into the wall outlet . .It's easily overlooked as it's the only stick to use such a system

Thanks to both Pol and Uncleal - you're both right: normal service has been resumed!

Saitek PZ45 3 lever Pro Throttle Quadrant
If it feels unatural to you to bring your left hand across your body in order to work the throttle. I'm rather fond of the Saitek Throttle Quadrent, if you use the massive clamp deal for a boat anchor, and secure the quadrent itself to your desktop with
adhesive back Velcro, you can put it wherever you want. It features 3 staulks, of which you can only use one, the other two vanish, and not very neatly, and the slots are neatly covered with black tape. It also features 3 Rocker Switches, which function like 6 Buttons, programable of course
