Hey guys, been a while!!
Okay first off the 256/512 thing is for making pcx images for skins, not for doing the menus. They are now 1024x768. PicPac doesn't care what size the image is. The file size will be larger.
Second, when I save a pcx in Photoshop it does not ask for any information at all. HOWEVER, if I recall correctly, there is a "MODE" in which you change to a 256 color depth. Photoshop doesn't do this right, though. As I recall, it saves the image's palette in reverse order from any other program on the planet. I always used Photoshop to save it as a pcx, then open it in Paint Shop Pro and set the color depth to 256 and save.
At this point you should be able to use picpac to convert the image to an mpc. Make sure you tic the selection for it - or just change the name afterwards (they are really the same type of images, LOL!)
I have done this from memory; I will need to hook up my more or less defunct computer to get to my EAW stuff....I will try to give that a go tonight. But as I recall when I forgot to change to 256 colors AFTER making a pcx, I ended up with the problem of a black screen...
Cheers, and a big HOWDY to all my mates !!
