Apparently, in the next patch build, you can get a 4 FPS boost if you turn effects from high down to medium or low. Is this really newsworthy?

Thanks for the link, but theres really no need to missrepresent a genuine update. The FPS shown on the screenshots were not the update, the screenshots in the post are there to indicate the very small visual difference between the new beta and the last one.
Otherwise, it seems quite reasonable to tell us that they are pretty happy with the new beta build, and that they want to do some more testing over the weekend to make sure there are no nasty surprises in there. Seems fair enough to me.

The frame increase in clouds was sorely needed. Hopefully it also relates too the particle system which includes the smoke and dust fps. We don't know what kind of system they tested on, so it should be interesting to see what increases the community are seeing.

Agreed that the cloud framerate is a nice boost. Lets hope the particle boost is more than what they showed on the ground attack screenies.

My 30fps in the clouds is going to drop to 7? Wonderful news!

We won't know squat until we get a chance to test if for ourselves. Since they aren't ready for release yet, we will have to wait - probably a good thing.

How you could extrapolate the screenshot fps numbers into that conclusion is quite enlightening. wink

For users with lower end systems a change of a few FPS can be a difference between playability and unplayability. The gains are quite noticeable in a difficult area (and with only a minor loss of quality - mainly on the aircraft canopy). So, I'd say it is quite desirable. It also shows that development is continuing.

Hopefully some of the performance savings will allow them to eventually re-introduce the advanced atmosphere model...

I have really no interest in this game anymore. After watching bits of a 2Hr livestream recording of War Thunder running on realistic setting COD won't survive once that comes out. Don't want to troll but see for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4qqQqFRHbs
