2h video of the realistic setting in War Thunder.....well well well , by the looks of it WT can get photo realistic graphics , good looking flight models with smart ai with no loss in performance.

Hi Nugzs! i dont know it it will pull in the hardcore crowd, but if MG are thinking of bringing out a MMO and try to get the younger gamers on board, it will struggle to compete with WT for sure, in fact i dont think it has a chance on that front.

I certainly hope it provides some competition for the new IL-2 series. It will be interesting to see how they both play when finished. I'm not holding my breath for WT to provide the depth of game play I'm looking for, but there is always hope. I was very disappointed to see the WT BOB map was still too small for anything but airstart furbals. Although there is a large segment of the IL-2 community who enjoy that type of fun.

Looks gorgeous, though. If they could just double the
linear dimension of the theatre, and then adjust the
player's artillery so it wasn't recoilless 80mm howitzers,
they'd really have something with this. (when I started
reading this thread, it was in another forum...)

Sure, it's pretty...

But it appeals to those that need action within a minute or two of gear up, and the FM's are an easy mode version of Il-2s.

I may have to give this a shot. CLOD is dead to me, so on to the next offering.

Finally had some time this morning to spend on this and to be honest this is a superb title.
It looks absolutely stunning and the framerates on my system are excellent . I've only tried the arcade scenarios so far which are a great for a quick blast. I'd imagine the historic scenarios using realistic settings will be where most people willl want to be and from what I've seen so far, these will be an absolute blast.
A huge thumbs up from me so far and it looks like it can only get better in the future.

Oh, I know. I went there immediately. But I still like to know his specs. I got a computer that the Smithsonian might want. It runs WOP great, but I see a lot that isn't in WOP.

Sure mate; iMac i7 27"/ 6970 2GB card/ 12GB RAM/ Running Win7 through Boot Camp 4.0.

Pretty much a crap set-up for gaming in theory but it actually does ok; I'm seeing 40+ fps in War Thunder with medium settings and that's in the canyon maps where the detail is just incredible.

I can't believe how smooth this game runs online with 32 people; I have not seen any warping or UFO behaviour at all which is really encouraging for the future.

God knows what it looks like on a decent comp. with everything maxxed out, with a decent set of missions for online/offline co-op this will be an awesome title.

I can't comment on the quality of the WT flight models specifically, but they have nothing to do with Il-2. Gaijn only received performance data from 1C.

And the inability to groundloop because the wheels don't stick.

You can side slip down the runway without the sides of the wheels gripping, like the Il-2 series.

Gaijin borrowed the IL-2 1946 FM and modified it for their use in WOP. The IL-2 FM was decent enough so I wouldn't have a problem if they modified it for WarThunder aswell. I just hope they've made the maps large enough for uses other than furbals. The BOB map appears to be the same size as the BOB WOP map which is very disappointing.

Lucky enough to be testing this.

Obviously can't say much due to NDA, but I think there will be something for everyone and it'll be up to the individual player how they want to experience their combat.
