"Dark side of the Mun"

Isn't that the name of an album by Kerbal's second best rock group, Green Floyd?

But these loonar missions are impressive!

Man, I don't even know how I'll get there. Right now I just need to build a stable rocket system. Still trying to understand how to order my decoupler stages in the right order. I'm a little cornufused as to how to configure them.

I know this probably isn't the right place to ask, but just how do you navigate to the Mun? I think I've built a rocket capable of getting there, but I can't figure out how to travel there. Is there any autopilot feature with waypoints, etc.? I can't seem to locate one. Thanks.

I plan on trying to get there by the seat of my pants.

Nice shots Bogusheadbox!

I haven't had much time to spend with KSP lately, but I did manage a quick trip to the Mun with the latest version. I had no luck with the larger capsule and big parts, so I threw together a quick single-Kerbal craft and planted my first boots on the Munar surface....

I left him up there for now, at the edge of a large crater. Hopefully the first of a continuous Kerbal presence on the Mun. I plan on creating a Mun-base at this location wink..

@ Coot and grunt.

There is an autopilot mod which is very helpful called mechjeb. That will serve you well. But your ship must still be capable. Give that a go.

Its not that hard to hand fly as long as you have the fuel. Just have to remember that mun lies in the 90 degree plane. So take off vertically, then rotate your ship on the 90 line on you ball. That orbit will be aligned with mun. Trial and error will see you there. My 0.16 test post will give a bit more info.

There is a little exploit available in 0.16 that can make long distance travel far easier. I won't identify it, but its already been found and a simple fix identified. I am sure will be rectified in next update.

@ paul. That's a great looking landing craft !

I got my little guy to asteroid that's orbiting around "earth" with enough fuel to return. Neat little game and well worth the admission.
Edit, And landed two crews next to each other on moon within 300 meters of each other and enough fuel to return.
