Hi, Just wondering if there was a development that will run EAW on a ATI5770 on windows7?

i downloaded the latest version recently, installed it on win7 64....and it fired up right away like it was made for it...briefing screens were a lil screwy but you could see them...and it worked a treat...no wrapper...no scrambled screens..nada...ran just like it was made for it...i was stoked...only problem i had was trackir wouldnt work in mouse mode...but that was tackirs fault not eaw...and my video card aint that different to yours

I get a scrambled map, but not if I use the d3d windower.
I use it all the time.

With 1.28e it works fine however it didn't write an .INI for it and my joystick gets no response, nor can I set the control settings from keyboard to joystick or map out the buttons on the joystick,

Have you installed it under C:\Program files\ ?......that can cause probs under win 7 as the operating system wont allow the software to write an ini or alter files within the folder....if you have installed it there, try installing it elsewhere...for instance...C:\ Microprose\EAW...anywhere but in the Program Files folder..done this way the operating system doesnt intervene when the software tries to write to files....just a thought...if infact that isnt the problem...im stumped...Jel?

No i didn't, I made a new folder and unzipped all files into it from 1.28E. I do remember someone saying that I had to adjust security settings to let it write an INI but not sure how to do that in win7 64

Just type UAC into the start menu or Control Panel search box.

Click on the UAC thing (Change User Account Control settings) and set it to zero.
Otherwise any program that writes to your HDD will be prevented from doing so. EAW frequently updates the "eaw.ini" file, but UAC will not let it if the level is above zero.

All I get is a slider bar with notify settings which is on never notify, is that what you are meaning Jell?

After playing around with an original ini I had in a no-cd install (clean install only flown once to produce an ini)I manually typed in joystick controls and mapped out some keyboard sets, I now get either a CTD or just get a black screen lock up and have to reboot my PC. Looks like I might need to use the D3D windower. Does anybody have a link to the program?

Hi Blue,

older ini´s wont work. But the User Account Control is the cause for your problem, like Mr.Jelly wrote. Somehow you must figure out how to dissable it.

Yea I figured that, just toying with things till I hear from Jell.It seems that I must have a different version of windows 7 as it doesn't give me the numerical adjustment as Tony's does, Just a slide bar.
Bloody microsoft, can't keep things consistant.

Well, don't I feel like a dummy, got the game to write an ini but still didn't have any joystick response, till I had an epiphiny and realised I had a logitec profiler which I set to EAW for older programs and BOOM, it all works
So i'm ready to get shot down, whens the next flight?

Unfortunatelly i miss time for EAW at the moment.

Three kids and much work are somewhat a bad handycap, althougt i would like to clear the sky from the allied agressors again.
