I like the jumping though in game's like this because its mostly appropriate. Like the other day I jumped off a roof to another adjacent roof to seek cover.

But the hopscotching around the map or jumping constantly while you're being shot at just so you can get behind some shed is annoying. Hard to control that.

Maybe they could introduce Red Orchestra's stamina mechanic where if you jump too many times in a row you'll be only jumping an inch off the ground in no time.

It's like having corporate whores in the white house. Most of us just get used to it and cease to care.

Stamina counter and tie it in with sprinting. You can only hop a couple of times and your stamina is done. No more hopping or sprinting for a few seconds.

We have our own server. Bunny hoppers get a warning, then a ban.

My suggestion has always been to make each jump in quick succession 50% as high as the previous one. Define 'quick succession' with a bit of trial and error and I reckon that would work quite well.

I've had other awesome ideas for FPS's, such as being able to sprint faster by looking down. Great way to get around slightly quicker at the expense of reduced situational awareness. Running - especially over rough terrain - does force you to pay more attention to your feet than what's going on around you.

Edit: hadn't seen the similar suggestions on the last page before replying.

I think the ideal solution for bunny hopping is really quite simple, and probably easy to program as well.

How about this? Your character simply can't jump UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING TO JUMP OVER OR ONTO. So, if you're running out in the open and you try to jump, the jump key doesn't work. Period. But, if there's something in front of you, then it lets you jump over it or onto it.

Way too much hassle to program that into the game, the devs don't care, it's all about money let the kiddies do the Bunny.

I totally agree.

That’s how they do it in Ghost Recon Online. I love BF3 but this GRO thing keeps pulling me back in (and its free!) ...

Not really my thing, anyway.

Back to the topic at hand, this is one place where consoles shine, it's very, very difficult to cheat online.

That last part about "cheating" being very difficult with console....not true. If you have played enough BF3 on consoles, you would know that there are cheating using hacks there as well. Console are after all notihg more then PC's without the keyboard/mouse and their own operating system. That makes cheating pretty much possible regardless.

As to some of the percieved cheats that people report here and elsewhere, I say about 50% are more the result of two things. One, lag which everyone experiences for time to time on their end or the end of the other player. In fact, lag or high ping can make a poor player pretty good just by making him harder to kill. Harder to kill because when you shoot at him he probably is not where you are aiming.

The other thing is that there are just better players out there. I have been accused of cheating even though I am not what you would call a stellar player. Have a "good" game and some just can't except it as normal. Or, if you are good and have repeatly good games, people will just naturally accuse you of cheating. I have seen this first hand with two of my sons who are what I would say are very good players. Niether cheats yet both regularly are accused of same. I think it just has to do with th ego of some not being able to accept that someone else might be better then they are.
