They started in Australia a few years ago, about 150 km north of me. A couple came up with the idea and it became popular very quickly and has been copied all over the world.

Never heard that one, most just did it as if that would make everyone on the road in their area a better driver.
And if you're planning ahead that much, just stay off the road. LOL Emergency crews know how to check a car, and a child seat isn't that easy to hide.

Saw one the other day, Darth Vader, Imperial officers, storm troopers, then a short little ATAT as the family doggeh!

Then again, a month ago I saw a civic with what seemed to be the Galactica's medallion, a Klingon symbol and what might have been Klingon writing on the back bumper...then a whole bunch of other insignias, likely for other TV shows...a police badge that included a Transformers head, "Atlantis", "to punish and enslave", "strategic homeland intervention enforcement- Logistics Division", and "N7 OC"...no idea what any of that means...just looking at the cell pics I took!

Plate said "Martok", and the bumper had "DalHjaj 'oh QaQ jaj Daq Hegh"...no I have no idea!

I thought about putting one stick figure in my window to represent just me, but I felt it would be pathetic instead of wry.

If you do an image search for "nobody cares about your stick figure family" you'll see some funny variations on the theme. smile

Heck, I still see those lame "baby on board" stickers every day, including on the back of a vehicle in the parking lot at my job.

You know what I find just as annoying and, shall I say, self-aggrandizing? Military veterans who feel the need to plaster the equivalent of their entire DD-214* on the back window of their vehicle. It just strikes me as being the exact opposite of the WWII generation, who came back home and just went back to work or school. They didn't feel the need to show all of their military accomplishments to everyone else.
