Sorry I am new to this, I only have DCS A-10. Do I install DCS world on top of DCS A-10, or do I uninstall A-10 then install "world" then A-10 again? My first attempt went like this, I left A-10 installed, then added "World" then the 1.2.0 A-10 patch. I like the interface of world and loading speed of A-10, and did a training mission and lost audio from the "trainer", still had audio from wingman. So, which is the correct way of installation? Sorry if I sound like a idiot, this is new to me too. Thank You.

P.S. I did see the post a few down, I am still confused. frown

You had it right the first time: Install DCS World the A-10C for DCS World. The 1.2.0 A-10C isn't a patch, it's the full download of the module.

The 1.20 versions lost the audio files in the training missions, so it sounds like your install was fine.

No, no patching required.

Download DCS World from here.
Download DCS A-10C 1.2 from here.

Install DCS World.
Install DCS A-10C 1.2.

Done.

Leave A-10C 1.1.1.1 installed if HDD space isnt an Issue.
Download the DCS World Installer
Download the A-10C 1.2.0 DCS World Module.

Install DCS World.
Install DCS A-10C 1.2.0 Module

Follow instructions Here to restore Voice Overs in training missions:
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91666

If you dont wanna re-install and patch the A-10C Standalone version, just download the A-10C 1.1.1.1 install from the DCS Site:

SkateZilla, That's how I did it the first time, I thought that a re-install would have fixed the loss of
voice-overs. Well after everything was all said and done, after I did a re-install and 2 applied patches (using DVD) version.
I am back to where I was when I started this. Thank You Guys for the support and hope to see you online.
Cheers:

Can we all download/install the full Blackshark 2 version?.....or do people who bought BS1 have to download that and then follow it up with the upgrade version? Is there a difference with the serial keys?

Edit: Cancel that question, I've found out myself the hard way after downloading and attempting to install the full BS2 version....so the question is why didn't ED allow 'upgrade' users to have their existing serial key authenticated for the single BS2 installation? Are we always going to have to install BS and then the BS2 upgrade or is that likely to change.

It's all still a bit confusing with the way these installations go (hence lots of questions in the forums)....especially when the original BS download is now in the 'Previous versions' area of the downloads.

The BS2 upgrade version requires BS1 to be installed on the machine. ED has not announced any plans to change that, although I think it would be great.

Of course, I'm not expecting to have to reinstall BS2 over and over again, so the headache is pretty minor for me.

I am guessing Documentation and support on how to use the API for 3rd party FMs is all that is provided from ED. The 3rd party would be solely responsible for the actual FM - and ED supplies the interface for it to plug into.

Of course if a 3rd party want to use the SFM, I imagine it is a different matter.

OK, stop me if I got this wrong. If we already own DCS A-10C and we want to fly it in DCS World, we:

1. Download and install DCS World v1.2.0
2. Download and install the DCS World A-10C Module
3. Use the activation key that came with DCS A-10C in DCS World and it should work?

Correct. Addendum to 3. If you already activated DCS A-10C standalone on the same machine, there is no need to activate again.

I just got DCSW up and running smoothly, just the Su-25 for the moment, if it runs well enough I might buy a module. I found out that I had to lower settings way below what I ran LOMAC on but it looks good enough. I'm now adapting an X-52 Profile that I had and found that the Saitek Profiler doesn't recognize RSHift commands only LShift (couldn't figure that out for a while) but at least I've completed two flights from the ramp and now I have to learn how to make things go boom! Are there any noobie servers out there where you can practice? I'd like to see if I can fly on a populated server and see what online is like.

I also would like to know if the modules contain their own specific commands or are they already covered in the DCS World commands/keys for example the P-51 will have Supercharger/Mixture/Radiator controls the A-10 wouldn't have, are they separate or do they utilize other pre-existing controls?

Correct, there is NO news to pass along at this time. When there is, it will be shared. My understanding though is that most of the current network focus is on completing the dedicated server.

The latest Saitek profiler can distinguish between left and right modifiers.

Each module has its own functions and keybindings. You can set each in the options window via the dropdown window on the upper left.

Hi Bong, with the latest version of the X-52 software, does it show on the throttle screen which button on the HOTAS you're pressing? I had that at one point but I formatted my PC to put a better HDD in and whatever version I have now doesn't display it any longer. Before it would say, for example, "TMS Left" when I hit that on my throttle, but now it says nothing. Doesn't matter now that I have things memorized, but I'd still like it back.

More info for AFM, the engines:

Engine simulation would be considered as part of the AFM, I assume. As with the flight dynamics, the engine and fuel simulation would have to be written from scratch within the AFM. There are no tools available.

Yeah, the engine, fuel, and electrical systems are all part of what makes up the AFM, and as such currently have to be done from scratch. There is no AFM SDK available.

While it is true that the electrical system (AC) is dependent on the engine, so are several other systems. In reality, all you need is the data (RPM) out of the engine to make the AC electrical generator work. This wouldn't need to be incorporated in the same AFM dll.

Info by Wags of the future next misile AFM included on FC3 but updated on the core DCS:W by free.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93747
Quote:
There have been a lot of questions of what the new FC3 Advanced Flight Model (AFM) for missiles entails, so here is description of some of the new features:
Launcher platform speed, thrust, missile weight, total drag, gravity, etc. are all calculated to determine missile speed.
Missiles now incur realistic energy bleed that accounts for drag, induced drag and gravity. Induced drag calculates g-load and that factors the missile’s lift. Missiles will now bleed energy very quickly if the target performs hard maneuvers.
We added a longitudinal-load fuze arming type. The missile warhead of missile will only be armed after reaching the assigned longitudinal g-load (acceleration). Otherwise the missile will not detonate.
We added a limited duration to the missile’s power system (gas-generator, generator and hydraulic pump). When the onboard power system is exhausted, the missile goes ballistic.
We added a self-destruction timer. Some missiles will self-destruct when the timer is reached.
We added altitude based of self-destruction. Some missiles will destruct when reaching an assigned altitude above ground level.
We added a guidance timer delay. After launching a missile, the missile will fly straight from the from launcher for safety reasons before initiating the guidance stage. This is typically 0.3…1.5 seconds. For example: the R-27R missile flies unguided forward for 0.5 seconds before guidance to target starts.
We added parameters of loft trajectory. The initial range to target, the range of transition to proportional navigation, and initial angle of loft are all factored.
