Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that v4 of iControl DCS was released to the App Store today.

Some of the new features include

  • Completely revamped graphic assets with native retina resolution support for the new iPad
  • Portrait CDU support
  • All the required switches to make a cold ramp startup

I've also released a beta version of A-10 VC Server with support for DCS World to go along with it. It may still be rough around the edges, but so far no one's mentioned any problems with it.

Existing users of iControl DCS that are upgrading to v4, make sure you get either the new World server or Standalone server at the same time.

I've updated the website with new screenshots and feature descriptions, so check it out!

This is awesome! Thanks for the quick World update. Just took it for a spin and it worked great. I didn't meticulously look through everything, but I didn't notice any issues. I can confirm (once again), that porting to a non-existent monitor works with these settings:

Retina update looks great..and a nice addition with the start-up/switches panel..! I love the functionality when working the DSMS menu. This is probably the closest I'll get to a cockpit setup with real switches and stuff.. smile

Expect a SimHQ review soon! thumbsup

Boarder2 I haven't downloaded the update yet, but after looking at BeachAV8R's attached pictures I would like to make a request and suggestion.

First off can you add the Refueling door handle?

Second can you look into the texture of the backgrounds? For instance if you zoom in on the UFC in the Actual A-10C cockpit you see how ED "textured" the material. I think that would look really nice if you did that to your surfaces.

No, he would have to re-size everything to work on the iPhone. I would like to see him release a UFC for the iPhone. Maybe individual radio functions, one screen AM, swipe left for UHF, etc....

Probably, yes. Look for it in the next update. (I added it to the to-do list)

That's a little more difficult. I've kept a clean looking interface because I personally like it better, but I know some people don't.

The problem would be that I need this all to be done using vector images. Adding stuff like scuffs and scratches in vector images would be a little harder. And to be honest, I'm pushing the limits of what I'm capable of creating as it is smile

At the moment, no. However, I've been playing with ideas on some type of phone adaptation on the iPhone as well as Windows Phone.

And since I'm sure the question is coming - There will not be an Android port. Sorry guys, I know I kept waffling back and forth on this one but I've finally decided that I don't have the time required to support the hundreds of different devices, resolutions, and the terrible SDK that Google provides for Android development.

That said, it's entirely possible that this WILL get ported to a metro app for Windows 8. So, start saving for that Surface tablet instead! smile

For anyone who uses the virtual display to export their CDU or MFCDs to, be aware that if you upgrade to Windows 8 you will no longer be able to use the DFMirage virtual display!

looks like an interesting concept - I remember reading something a while ago at our website , but forgot completely about it.

Extremely disappointed in no android tablet port.
I refuse to buy an apple product just to run a $30 app.

Just curious if anyone knew how to disable the "debug" mode. My option to un-check is inaccessible.

Under the Tools menu, select "Save debug info". It'll require you to save the file somewhere but you can just delete it immediately if you're not having problems.

Okay. I just read the review in SimHQ and am now interested in getting the IControl for my A-10. However, I have a few questions. I presently have 2 monitors with the TM MFDs on my second monitor. My questions are:

1. Can I continue to run the TM MFDs on my 2nd monitor and use the IPad/Icontrol for everything else?

2. Will the MFD's appear twice, once on the TM's and again on the IControl?

3. Do I use the second monitor as the virtual monitor for the MFD's from the primary monitors? Or can I just move the MFDs from my primary monitor that are in the upper corners and move them to my TM MFDs on the second monitor?

4. Is it worth trying out the free version to test the above or just go to the paid version-the price is really not an issue-just don't want to have to do everything twice if it all is going to work nicely.

5. I assume that IControl plays nicely with the WH controllers that I just got as a birthday present and love (I have even programmed the LEDs).

I thought I had this on my watched topics list, it appears I didn't. So a late answer to your questions...

1. Yep!
2. Yep!
3. You can arrange them however you want. The server will pull them from wherever you're exporting them to be used on the TM MFDs.
4. I would always recommend grabbing the free version and making sure it works well for you.
5. Unlike some of the other apps that fake keypresses, iControl DCS sends commands directly to the simulator, so no matter what your keybindings, we won't mess with them.

Hope that helps! smile

Seems like you need a degree in computer engineering to use this ipad app. I can't even get it installed. I downloaded "bonjour", can't even tell if it's running. Can only get the window showing an empty printers list. The A-10C VC server application just fails on installing saying "following components failed to install:- Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (x86 and x64)" - which i already have installed, then quits installing.
