I'm just trying this 'Downtown Patch' now, well, once it's downloaded.

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?132627-Take-On-Helicopters-Rearmed

We have something in the pipeline for TKOH, we believe to be a major addition for all fans out there. Though we cannot announce when it will be fully done, we just couldn't wait telling you.

The next official patch (codename Downtown) will automatically and seamlessly merge TKOH with a lot of our previous releases, should you have legitimate copies installed

Some examples of what this means:
Flying in different sceneries, such as beautiful Chernarus (with improvements like clouds and lighting)
More civilian vehicles, characters and environments to use in scenarios
Taking on the massive Arma ORBATs in the newly released Hind
No messing around with copying PBOs or other manual merging tasks (install the patch, start TKOH, enjoy the best of both worlds)

Has anyone tried it yet? Any good? I've not played since 1.02 so be interesting to see what's changed..

Good question, I've also had TOH parked awaiting this release of the official patch, but hadn't heard if it came out.

Well it seems to work ok smile

It's nice not to have to fiddle with PBO files. Obviously opens up a lot of ARMA II models to get shot at in a Hind..

Hmm, I wonder that now that ARMA II and ToH are up to the same patch level then has anyone ever seen a PBO hack or something that would allow for A2OA/CO to play on the Seattle map?

That would be fun.

Just installed this over the weekend.

I confirm I can fly ToH birds and use ToH assets in Arma II based Maps, but sadly Arma II assets are not (automatically at least) imported into ToH (Unless I'm missing something in the editor).

One thing I did notice, is that my performance bogs in Arma II, which I suspect has to do with higher res textures and more trees.

Not a big deal, but it'll be a bit annoying having to switch graphics options for each map.

Yeah I keep waiting for their official patch that said it would automagically do all the assets copying, but it has not been released after the Release Candidate was released on May 5th...

At this point I should just go ahead with the Release Candidate patch I guess, I bet the summer vacation season caused a delay in the final patch release biggrin

Actually, I'll bet E3 caused some delays as they had to get Arma 3 ready.

Also, didn't this come out in July?

It looks like they are working on merging TOH exe beta improvements from Arma2OA with the Re-Armed Release Candidate data changes:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?138455-Take-On-Helicopters-Beta-Patch-95741

I guess I will just stay patient a bit longer.

Yeah same here, been waiting for this since May, and to be honest I've been a bit disappointed by the lack of progress, looking forward to it though.

It's BIS - they are counting the DayZ money and bathing, Scrooge McDuck style, in all that gold coin..

I've started TKOH once since May. Waiting for final patch. There are enough sims in alpha or beta state, I'm not going to add another one to that list.

As time passes I'm more and more disappointed with TKOH state. I hoped BIS wanted to make true sim, with support and bright future, but it looks like it was just a test bed for Arma3 features. Sad.

Yeah I have to agree on the disappointment.

I was very excited by TOH knowing how well BI has supported Arma/Arma2 and how they made it open for modding and missions, it was one of the reasons I purchased it and to support them. After the initial release it sounded like they had some improvements in the works, I was hoping for an improved flight model, maybe additional locations and careers, but the development of it really petered out and has been disappointing overall, like a huge missed opportunity IMHO.

I still hope somehow they come through and that some of the helicopter improvements make it into Arma3.

DayZ has been really enjoyable... so I support these creative spinoffs from Arma but we just need the support to follow through, hopefully this is just a summer pause.

FM, yes, but I doubt they will add any avionics to the Arma3, and that was my hope for TKOH future. Good FM (already there) and avionics/weapons systems at least on LockOn level. It would be my dream helicopter sim. We got half finished Hinds DLC and beta patches instead. TKOH is almost good. It just needs more love from the developer.

Not my cup of tea unfortunately. frown

* Helicopters merged from previous games do not have the advanced Take On Helicopters flight model applied to them, and rather fly using the flight models found in the games they originated in.

Please note that Rearmed is a bonus project for supporters of our various games. Not all content merged will function fully correctly, and we can only support the most striking issues. More information and known issues can be found in our Community WiKi. At this time the Arma 2 DLC packages are not supported (only their lite versions are): BAF, PMC and ACR.
