Anyone available for a DCS Combined Arms MP session on Saturday, 21 July, at around 20:00 GMT?
Magnum's complaints about having useless A10s overhead not doing proper CAS got me to thinking. I never really considered DCS CA because as I've found out from DCS A10C, what makes it fun is the human beings I fly with. I almost never flew with an AI wingman, and found JTAC procedures to be a pain. But with the possibility of human JTAC, and real human players "down below" calling for help, that puts a whole new level of coolness to flying a dedicated CAS aircraft.
I am re-installing DCS A10C and DCS World now in preparation for this event... I don't need CA if I don't want to do ground troops, right?
Eno, WC, any chance of you guys creating a simple mission and hosting it on Eno's server?
Magnum has expressed interest and availability for this event, so we at least have one guy on the ground. I'm guessing Eno, WC, Tomcat, and myself can do the CAS flight. Anyone else interested in either ground ops or airborne CAS?
EDIT: A10 Drivers: -Ice SkateZilla Weaponz248 Sethos88 komemiute Revelation78 - did not specify so I assume A10

i'd do it in an A-10 if you dont mind being an instructor on how to operate the weapons, lol..
I got the Startup and and parts of NAV down, if not i do it the old way (Take off, and use map to navigate instead of playing around with the Computer inputs, get to target, find a way to arm weapons (which is most likely like 4 button presses), deploy weapons efficiently, head back to closest allied base.
I was hoping to get the weapons systems down this week, but its been TOO hot, depending on temps in my house I cant run games on my PC or my GPU will overheat.

He just needs "training" in the weapons systems. Should be easy enough to do, if I can remember. Skate, how are you for a training session maybe Friday evening or Saturday afternoon? 20:00 GMT Friday or so? I hope to get my copy of DCS A10 re-installed over the next few days (just waiting for the World torrent to finish, 3 hrs to go) and maybe an hour or two for me to remember the finger acrobatics... never got to anything fancy so don't think I can teach anything about the CDU, but if you just want to put steel on target (or bullets!), then I can teach that. you need DCS World and the A-10C module, if your not doing the ground vehicles or JTAC then you dont need combined arms. Erm, I need to interact with JTAC though. Get lased targets and home in on his laser signature and stuff like that, but no "control ground troops" sort of thing.

Ice your good to interact with the ground guys without CA. World has everything you need in it for all the DCS modules. Each module just adds a few things and "activates" a few others. So without CA you will be able to interact with the ground. Example would be guy with CA on the ground calls out a TGT and marks it with smoke and a laser. You will be able to see the smoke and pick up the laser with the TGP. Also coordinates can be given via TS and you can input them into the CDU and get the same effect. So long story short your good without CA.
As for weapons hell yeah easy as 1 2 3. Four separate missions and Skate would be good to go. A Gun Mission, a GBU mission, MAV mission, and a GP mission. Could throw in a fifth mission with a combo of munitions and night time. However four missions and skate would be good.

I just had one training mission wherein you load up what you wanted to practice with, flew, dropped ordnance, then back in. I wonder if I'd need to change anything with that.
Mavs, CCRP, CCIP, guns, sorted! All others are just variations of these basics. It's the finger-dance that needs practice. BTW Skate, you flying with a TM Warthog and TM Cougar MFDs?

You could just go with a mixed loadout. The only reason I went with Four was GBU's drop different than and other bomb. Also there is a bit more to a GBU then the release.

Skate what issues you having with the weapons systems? I haven't touched them yet. I bought DCS A-10 in Feb. PC broke, when I got everything back up and running, summer decided to show up, and this old house dont have AC, so I havent been able to log many hours, I ran through the start up and taxi tutorials. havent touched any weapons or navigation tutorials So So.... I can, Radio Tower, Startup, Radio Tower, Taxi, Radio Tower, Tack Off. after that, everything from Navigation coordinates entry and arming weapons systems is non existant, then landing Im good, I dont need ILS or instruments, its about touching down softly.

Weapons are fairly easy. If you cant run the sim I would suggest reading the manual. It goes into what you need to do to release bombs. I do understand that reading might not help but it could give you a better understanding of what to expect.
If you can radio tower you can radio pretty much anybody.

I work later Fridays', and till 7pm eastern during the week, I'll prolly try running the tutorials if the temps are low enough after the sun goes down. yeah, i can take off, fly, i just need to run the tutorials on working the weapons systems a few times, i got start ups memorized as I ran the tutorial, and wrote down steps, added a few things the tutorial left out. The started a mission from the ramp, and went over my notes and started the plane, ended mission, restarted, ended mission a few times.

ran a tutorial mission today,
after i modded my install to bring voice overs back and limit GUI items to the center screen.
Like i said, the guns, it was a matter of arming them with the switch and switching the HUD mode,
Still gonna do the rest of the weapons tutorials this week if i can, and re-run the nav tutorial as I never got to finish it because of real life events, or other things.
I Also disabled my head tracking until i can get the curves decent, as it moves around too much some times, and items on the hud i need to see i cant, not to mention when it moves while Im trying to press a button or flip a switch.
so at the least I'll be able to get airborne and unleash some GAU-8.

I'm still green as they come but I might like to join as ground troops, hopefully not just as easy bait but with some AA capabilities as well. Friendly or hostile doesn't matter to me, just to provide some target practice that shoots back

I'm up for this for deffo.... I can turn up in a Ka50 or A10 but what I'd really like is the chance to do on call SEAD in a SU25. I guess I'd have to be given a grid ref and then left to find it on my own due to the unsophisticated nature of the Frog's avionics. I'll lurk on SimHQ TS when I'm playing, if anyone want so give me a shout....

Domestos Ground Forces can pop smoke in the general area of a TGT. So all you should need is a good eye and a gerneral heading once the smoke is out.

Yeah, I haven't figured out the best way for a JTAC to give coords to a Su25, but this is what I've done in the past:
1) Set the mission up so the Su25 has a initial point in their waypoint that's 10-15 nautical miles from the target area. The IP should be on a ground feature or building or something easily recongizable from the F10 map so the JTAC can see it, too. 2) The JTAC uses the measuring tool on the F10 map to come up with bearings/distances from that IP to the target. 3) The JTAC gives those references (Lines 1-3) to the attack pilot. 4) The Su25 pilot sets the IP as their current waypoint and follows the cues on their HSI, which shows bearing/distance. 5) The JTAC talks the pilot onto the target ("the little bugger is at the near end of the ravine, about 300 m closer to you than the burning tanks"). 6) The JTAC pops smoke where able.
I haven't had much success JTAC with a Su25, but would love to try it out!

For the A-10 JTAC can give Coordinates or Laze the target. One the Laser is active the TGP on the A-10 can be put into a laser find mode and pick up the laser and the TGT. Not sure about the KA-50 but I would guess somewhat similar.

I don't think the Ka50 has any JTAC integration i.e. via Datalink or Vikhr. Not that I've found anyway, but would love to be wrong. So far it's Teamspeak Coords and popping smoke

Yeah thats what I thought Fearless. I just wasn't sure. The KA-50 can make waypoints via Coords right? If so that is something the Su-25 can't do and come to think of it the P-51 either.

I've entered Lat/Long Northings etc in the ABRIS PVI in the Black Shark for a custom waypoint, but not figured out how to do UTM. It might not be possible yet, but I've not spent a lot of time on looking at it (no reason before CA )

Hmmm JTAC should be able to give L/L from the F10 map, if not from there binoculars.

Can another A10 join in? Alternatively a Su25 (either Blue or Red) ?

Hmmm JTAC should be able to give L/L from the F10 map, if not from there binoculars. That'll work - plus the things fly so slow that the smoke will probably bring em down anyway Here's a nice post on ABRIS waypoints for any shark owners: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1323902&postcount=7

Right guys, back on topic here. So far, this is what I got:
A10 Drivers: -Ice SkateZilla Weaponz248 Sethos88 komemiute
Ka50 Pilots: jdbecks
SU25 Pilots: Domestos
Ground Ops: Magnum Sethos88
As you can see, we need some more Ground Ops guys. Should we put the Ka50s and the SU25s on the Red side? I might be able to run a tutorial session on Friday night if anyone needs any help. As Saturday will be our first MP session, all skill levels welcome as we "test the waters" and see how this sim plays out with various players each playing a different aspect of DCS.

Anybody get the feeling Mag might be over tasked! LOL Looks good so far. As for Red vs Blue I would say lets hold off until we get a feel for this thing. IMO

Actually sir, I was in the ground troops section. However, I'm still very green and my ability extends to plonking down waypoints for my units and controlling them manually. All this laser mah business is dang there too advanced for me :P Hence why I'd love to just get a small section of units and help attack a attack or even better, provide some 'easy' opposition.

Sethos, my apologies. Great news, now we have two guys on Ground Ops. I'm not too sure what skill set you'd need to be effective as I've not touched CA, but if you can lase a target for us or lay down smoke, that would be great! Or yeah, maybe you could go against Magnum and call in some Red air support. We'll see.
jdbecks, there still isn't any server for the (still tentative) Saturday night MP. For the (still tentative) Friday night tutorial, I may be able to host as I've done so in the past with 2-3 "students."
blabo, the (still tentative) Friday night activity will be a tutorial session for those who want to learn how to make things go "kaboom!" in the sim, besides your own A10C, that is.

Can I bring a P-51 with a couple of Mk82's? I can read a map, plus recognize smoke when I see it Not 100% I can make it Saturday but this could be fun.

If you need someone on JTAC to lase and drop smoke on priority targets for RED or BLUE you can count me in for Saturday. will you have the JTAC invisible?
I can do some hunting in the KA-50 if the other slots are full.

I'm down! As long as I can chose my own load out then I will be there ready to assist ground forces. Ground Forces need to be able to give coords(preferably), pop smoke, or be REALLY descriptive as to where the enemy is. I get so upset when I'm on a pub server and ground forces are b***hing for help but can't coordinate efforts to their own peril.
@SkateZilla, I can teach you what you want to know. Do you have time tomorrow night to start going over weapon employment? I've worked a lot of hours this week and I should be leaving early tomorrow to ensure I don't run into overtime.
@Ice, let me know if you need additional instructors - I can help with the teaching.

Come to think of it I don't think there is a way to disable LALT + ' so it's probably safe to guess that we will have custom load outs, just wanted to be sure.
I prefer a simple load out: (obviously all include ALQ, Lightning and 2xAim9) 6xAGM65D, 4xGBU38 or 6xAGM65D, 2xCBU105, 2-6xGBU12 or 2xAGM65K, 4xGBU38
Depends on the threats in the area and the time/weather conditions.

Hmm whats LALT + ' do again?
Anyway I perfer a loadout with options!
4xAGM65D,6xGBU-12,1xCBU-195,1xGBU-38,1xLAU-131 w/WP RKTS
IF fuel is going to be tight then I would go with this load out
2xAGM65G, 2XGBU-12, 1xCBU-105, 1xGBU-38, 1xLAU-131 w/WP RKTS

Personally, I prefer 2x65D/G, 4-6 bombs either all CBU-97/87 (or their WCMD versions), Mk-82, GBU-12, GBU-38, or mix thereof based on the expected target. Don't need anything more than a single weapon per pylon. The plane actually feels like a plane instead of an airborne whale this way.

LALT + ' brings up a window, similar to the weapon load out of F4, where you can change each individual pylon, fuel load, chaff & flares, munitions in GAU-8.
It also resembles the load out menu in the mission editor, you simply only get one line instead of all the different pre-loads you get in the ME.

Exactly, just because it can carry enough ordnance to wipe out an army doesn't mean you should. Remember, you're going to have 6-8 a-10s I'm sure you'll be carrying enough with GrayGhosts loadout to take out the entire enemy force between you

Can I bring a P-51 with a couple of Mk82's? I can read a map, plus recognize smoke when I see it Not 100% I can make it Saturday but this could be fun. 2 MK82's on a P-51?!?!? This I got to see! Well, they are AN-M64 500lb General Purpose Bomb's I think, but a bit like Mk82's I might not do SEAD..

I will go all out if need be. It should be noted though that I will very rarely carry 6 MAVs and if I carry 4 or more MAVs I dont carry a TGP. But one does got to admit it looks bad ass all decked out doesn't she?!?!?!

Right... I'm a bit torn about this one now. So far, I've not heard from any Ground Ops guys though Magnum has assured me he would be there tomorrow. We don't have a server yet as well and Eno and WC seem to be busy. It's Friday afternoon here; should I just cancel tomorrow's MP flight and maybe reschedule? What do you guys think?
I am also unfamiliar with what the ground troops would need in order to make things interesting for them. I've created simple missions before for A10 drivers, but as we were looking forward to have ground troops to support, I have no idea how Combined Arms works and what they need. Is there anyone that can do the ground ops bit of the mission, then maybe send it to me and I'll populate it with A10s with sensible flight plans?
As for loadouts, I will be loading up 4 Mavs, 2 CBU-97s, and 2 GBU-12s. Of course people are free to change them as they wish.
Regarding tonight, I will be online at 20.00 GMT and will be available for 2-3 hours if anyone wants any help with the Hog. I'll be on SimHQ Teamspeak, if nobody turns up within the first 30-40 minutes, I'll assume nobody needs help and will do some practicing of my own. If anyone is interested in some help but can't make 20.00 GMT but can fly later, please speak up and I'll see about meeting up later in the evening. My training mission is suitable for 1-2 players at a time.

Sorry Ice I'm only just reading this for the first time- I typically just have jumped right to A-10 because that's all I have. I am in the process of getting things sorted out but I'm away at work until Wednesday. AND I'm on nights so I'm only just now going to bed. Really kind of bummed that after all this time running a server with crew almost full time that we've missed out on this opportunity to host the big fly in. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Anyway- again, my regrets.

Hey Ice! I'm in work now so I'll have a look at the DCS forums for a mission to download. If all else fails maybe one of us can try hosting a pre-built mission just as a startoff. It would be a shame to let this burst of enthusiasm tail off. There's always a few servers with only one or two people in, maybe we should gatecrash one.
I don't mind what I fly, Toad, Shark,or Hog I just want some MP with people who want to work together. (and not have to stay up all night)
Eno... if you see this before bed... any tips for us?

I SO NEED training tonight. I'll be there. Whether it'll be just procedural training (taking off/navigating/testing 9-line briefs handling speed and skill/new waypoint creations) or also weapon delivery I'd still be VERY happy. Cheer up, guys, someone will be there.

Eno, it probably was my fault. I should've PM'ed you... but I thought as the DCS sub-forums have now been collected into one, I thought you might see it. My fault, sorry.
Okay guys, I need some help on this one. Like I said before, I need someone with ground ops knowledge to at least craft a semi-working mission for the ground guys. I've never been in this theatre, not unless you count my World of Tanks experience! Lol! I can then put in the aircraft with an IP to coordinate from. Cold start (for the hardcore or for those who want to practice) and warm start so no pressure for those who don't know how to start up.
alienax, not sure about JTAC being invisible, I think the goal here is to have vulnerable ground troops to support, so I think invisible makes things less.... dangerous.
If we go on ahead tomorrow, I guess we'll just have to see who has the best connection. I'm on a 2mb line with 2mb down, about 0.7mb up, but I've hosted for 3-4 guys before, that is why I know I can host for training missions. For bigger stuff, well, not me unfortunately.
kome, I guess I'll see you tonight then. Weapons delivery will be our main topic, though of course we can tackle other stuff and we will on ingress/egress.
I've also updated the first post reflect the interested parties.

Hey, - Ice, I found the thread - thanks for the PM. I'll take a few minutes now to read through it.
Looks like 2000 GMT is about 1300 here in Colorado.
What sort of simple mission would you like? I got CA earlier this week.
I do not know about server availability.

-Ice no problem if the JTAC are visible, I find the JTAC (scope) is usually higher than the turret of the vehicle so you can stay more or less invisible from the enemy if you stay low behind a hill.
I'll check onto the server/forum to see if this MP is still going ahead.

Just flew a two training sorties with blabo, komemiute, and Wrecking Crew. It's nice to be in the air again in the slow-as-hell Hog, but it's nice to hear rounds plink off your armor, check your faults panel and nothing's lighted up, then go out for spacing and come back in and make the bastards pay, spreading some thirty mike-mike love around the battlefield!
Some observations from 1.2.0 coming from 1.1.1.1 -- slew rate is even slower than before! My ministick slew rate was always slower than my keyboard slew rate, but now it's just ridiculous! And it's at slew rate of 5.0! Another is that I can't seem to hit with Mk-82s in CCRP, even after making triple-sure that my SPI is on target --- I always hit about one tank-length from my SPI, and the weapons go long. blabo also seemed to notice a problem with LGBs, but that is query bug or user error.
Aside from that, glad to see the 30mm is still nice and deadly, though it took me some time to adjust and re-learn how to aim with the top pipper dot and not the bottom one. Now if I can just figure out how to make DCS run on all my monitors....
At the moment, things are also looking good for tomorrow's MP flight. Thanks to Wrecking Crew for stepping up and making a mission for us but we still need to find a server for tomorrow night --- Eno's server isn't running DCS World yet. So I guess whoever has the "fattest" connection tomorrow may have to consider hosting!

No advice on my end guys- crew runs the server in my absence and may have some things to add. All I would say is we're learning that though I have some of the best wireless hardware around it may be leading to instability... so I'd recommend boatloads of RAM, that chunky upload connection speed hardwired into the server comp... if the guy running it doesn't mind running at lower detail level... or assign a third party computer running the sim without problems? That way you can turn the 3D graphics rendering off completely and that frees up the comp considering many of the graphics processes seem to be happening on the processor.
Seriously though... I installed world and A-10 on my small comp and it was seamless... if crew can load the missions on my comp I could probably get it installed tonight.
Are we able to keep both A-10C and DCS World A-10 installed? If so, then let's just do it!

My $0.02USD: Go to v1.2 (DCS World). The "upgrade" is free, everyone will have to make the transition sooner or later...why not now?

EP - because buildings are not supported (yet, I hope) so none of my older missions will load. Hopefully this will be resolved. I did send - Ice and Eno a new mission for DCSW. WC

I am installing DCSW and A-10 as we speak so should be good to go. If crew is going to be in, then he can manage the server- otherwise it may need to be someone else who is trustworthy. (ICE perhaps?)

I'll join the party in another Black Shark, if there's still a slot available.
Ice, if your bombs fall off target, it may help to input wind correction data into the CDU. If there's wind, this increases accuracy of dumb bombs significantly.
Check the manual, p. 702 on the System/Laste/Wind subpage of the CDU. Usually, the ATC tells you wind direction and speed on the ground when you request startup clearance. The AI JTAC also mentions it, as long as it is relevant. And a human JTAC should also be able to make an educated guess :-)

It's a shame I'm so strapped for time. I am on a 111/11 Connection and I have a spare gaming computer ( i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz, 8GB Ram, 580 GTX ) which isn't hooked up - With more time I could have installed Windows and DCS world, hosted the server on there.

WC, I understand your point re: buildings, and suxx that they missed that on DCS World. However, for server purposes, can't we have BOTH DCS A10C and DCS World running on Eno's server? If both are installed, are you able to startup either World or DCS and shift from one to another? I don't know how much you can do remotely, but I've been hearing about guys having two copies of the game (DCS and World) in their machine when they discovered that fiasco (again!) about tutorials being broken in the new 1.2.0 version. If it is possible to have both, then maybe we can run DCS on normal days then design a "kill 'em all!" mission for MP nights?
OlafM, this was an old, old, old training mission which I designed in Beta 4 which I just opened and saved through each successive patch --- however, it is a training mission so environment is not a factor, or shouldn't be as I've not fiddled with it. Besides, the bombs hit long for a set distance no matter which direction I came from so it's not like it's being blown west consistently...

Do you want to try in case we get stuck on some issue with Eno's server?

I just have so much on my plate right now I have to do for today - So setting up the PC, hooking up some of the parts I've taken out, installing Windows, updates, DCS world, getting it all set up and tested it etc. probably won't fit the schedule. But I'll see what I can do and then for future games I could have it ready.

Is it in history by chance? I'm on and off here trying to manage it remotely. I'm finding the team viewer view of it is all choppy now.
Anyway, I may need to do some troubleshooting but I'll see if I can get you guys on through ip if other things fail.

That's odd...
I have been in and out of it mind you- trying to correct things.
I'm not sure why else you couldn't connect if you can see it in the list? Any ideas?

Just saw Dom's server with password.
I put up one called "Sethos - SimHQ Test" with password 1234
My IP is 86.52.140.121 and it's on port 10308
Just wanted to see if my connection allowed everyone to join, if we can't get anything else working I have to make time to set up my makeshift game server in that case.

Mine is dropped now- I tried a restart through TeamViewer and now my computer is showing online but it doesn't want to connect. And the GF is going to be in bed for at least a couple more hours.
Sorry boys- I really tried. I'm not sure if you can wait, or if it'll be worth having a backup server when I get things up and running.
I'm having some chats with ICE in pm too- so if I can get it up and running I will use the same pw as the other server in case it's warranted.
On a side note though- I'm extremely annoyed at how this is proving to be such a pain in the @ss.
I know my router is properly configured- I was hosting a game 10 minutes before I did the switch and the settings are configured the same. My firewall has exclusions that include all of the same settings... down to the eagle dynamics folder. I have it set for internet... and all settings as before. I wonder if servman is screwing something up- though I'm dubious. I'll give it a shot if I can get back in.

No problems Eno, thanks for stepping up. We'll see later again if/when the GF can take a look at it. I'm not sure coming from DCS to World, but when I started up MP last night, Windows did ask me if I wanted to make an exception in the firewall, bla bla bla...
I now see Dom's server (what's the PW?), but not Sethos. I will try to connect via IP... it tries but also says "can't connect." Have you got the relevant ports open Sethos?
This is not an unknown problem, the master server list has been known to Fk up every now and again, that is why we sometimes try direct IP connection or through the History tab.

Nope i don't, because of the inherent #%&*$# nature of my ISP. Cable Modem does have NAT, open any ports and it'll change back straight away as it downloads new data from the ISP. However, I always host when me and my friends play, the NAT is extremely lenient and I've never had anyone who couldn't connect in other games - Only when they were behind firewalls / NAT themselves or the game(s) had poor NAT support.
So I just had to see if this worked, so no need to waste time setting up my server. I'll leave my server running in the background, see if anyone else can connect or the master server list updates and something changes. EDIT: Closed now.

Hmmm... any of you guys still have a server up? Don't see either Eno, Dom, or Sethos. Dom, I tried SimHQ, SimHQ, SimHQ earlier, no luck. But I did see your server!

I'll take a look at Eno's Firehouse in a bit - got some honey-do's to take care of first. Maybe take an hour before I can look at it.
Yes, I have both DCS A-10C and DCSW World with A-10C on my machine. raven just got that combo up on his, too. Doesn't seem to be a problem, so far anyway :-)

Not being able to do anything else was a bit of a hindrance, minimizing it would result in a crash when maximizing again.

If there was ever any doubt, tonight was an epic fail for DCS. After numerous tests, I think it is DCS World that is broken. At first I thought it was server issues, but we had 3 (or 4?) different guys try and host and nobody could stay in for more than 5 minutes. So maybe I thought it was WC's untested mission. But no, even Dragon's mission, which Dom said has been running fine, couldn't keep everyone connected. Just before I quit, I tried my extremely simple training mission --- no scripts, no flags, just 6 A-10s and some targets. I've hosted this mission TWICE last night, and we were rock stable all throughout (of course, the ever-present warping was there, but everyone stayed on). Nope, I couldn't keep 3 guys in... after crashing 2x, it was time to call it a night after almost 2 hours of testing. It's time to wait for ED to iron out the bugs in DCS World. I don't think DCS A10C on Beta was this disappointing, and we know that connection-wise, we've had successes before with 6+ people on a non-dedicated server with the host playing alongside other clients. Back to BMS for me then. Thanks to all who came tonight. We will do this again sometime, hopefully with more success.

Hee hee - yeah, at least the first MP's on A-10C lasted an hour before the connection was interrupted. --- May well be Internet related to some degree... last night OTOH was pretty solid for the flying we did in the A-10C. Who was this with us last night, - Ice? It was a good crowd today, though. We had at least 14, all in SimHQ TS. When we did start a server, there was a pretty good distribution of roles that folks were taking. The kinks will get ironed out (and the missing buildings need to be added back in for groups). Record the footage with Dxtory ( or whatever you prefer ), then import it into Photoshop, cut it and save it as a GIF Lots of ways to go about making GIFs, I just have Photoshop handy. If you ever need a quick guide in how it works, if you use photoshop let me know. Oh and a bonus question regarding the ground commanders, do they really share all the units? Seems like a pretty weak decision, I'd rather see each commander have a handful of units assigned or as more commanders joined, the ground forces are split up all the time.

It was blabo there with us WC, but that was after 3 other guys left - hatchie, Domestos, and komemiute.
Because of my mission working last night, but I can't keep a stable MP server up tonight, I strongly suspect it is a DCS/ED-side issue. Running my training mission took out all other factors - unit count (I only have about 20+ targets plus 6 A10s), unit variety (A10, T-80, BMP), mission complexity (I literally have ZERO triggers/flags/etc), weather --- these were all taken out of the "possible things that are broken" and since I was able to host that mission for two cycles last night, that eliminated the host server as a factor too. I put the blame squarely on the DCS/ED server.
blabo, sorry, I just need to clear out my inbox more often. Should have space now.

It will be so good when the problem can be fixed, once the server can be stable this will be immensely fun.

Thanks to all who showed... unfortunate all the problems, waste of 3 hours. But we tried a lot of things, and ended up experimenting a bit more with 3-4 of us w/o problems. Magnum - I was told later about when you jump into a vehicle that *you* are now in control of the unit. To stop the vehicle from rolling down a hill you have to press 'H'andbrake. When Ice and raven and I spent a bit more on my DSL-connected server we did OK, and I did learn how to drive a Hummer to try to find units for Ice to hit. He did find a target. I must program my Track IR to the vehicle view instead of using the mouse. I think that will make it easier to drive the things. Use 'B'inocoulars to Lase the target. Very neat is the ability to pop red or orange smoke over a distant target. I also looked at a spot next to my vehicle and popped green smoke to mark my position. I have no idea if the enemy can see my smoke or not. WC

Not sure about the server you guys were in but in our private server, warp and disconnection was coming from too low connection settings, set in multiplayer option.(both client and server) For some reason ADSL256 which is set by default can no longer handle the medium-large mission after CA release.
Settings connection high does fix the connection issue however game itself is still unstable that it crashes server a lot.

Increased bandwidth demands sound very plausible: I noticed a couple of days ago, that DCS world now transmits the positions of the control surfaces, which I believe was not done in earlier DCS releases. Hopefully we will get a new patch soon with better stability--and datalink for the human JTAC!

Again, I don't think it had anything to do with bandwidth since I hosted a mission the night before and it ran fine with 6 guys, and to think it was a Friday night! Then on Saturday... was it 10-11pm? I couldn't keep the my MP mission running for more than 5 minutes before it crashed. At about 11:45pm, WC hosted a mission on his server and we were able to fly for an 1hr 30min with absolutely no problems. Probably we were just unlucky with the timing and the DCS server was unstable at that time? Might warrant a stress-test session one of these days. Rev, you didn't miss much. The guys and I did more flying and blowing things up on the Friday night when you were on.

I didnt have a PTT set, tried changing sensitivity, might map a Button on the throttle for PTT, since apparently I have yet to configure any buttons, the trigger and fire Missle buttons are mapped, and the Axes, other than that, buttons do nothing. I think the DCS Servers were having issues, as we would crash with DCS.exe stopped responding a lot just signing into DCS Multiplayer, Possibly in game, we all still communicate with DCS's master server. I was having problems all day yesterday, only with DCS, every other online game ran fine. edit: Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurp. hhahaha

Hey Ice, have you pinged the techs on the ED forums to see if this is a known issue with DCS:World? I had a quick blast with 1.2.1 (A-10), and it seemed okay but didnt try it online.

Seen a few threads in the ED forums, didn't see the need to add any more.
