Howdy Non-Zombie Folk,

Just looking down the increasingly busy posting lists I was wondering if people had any suggestions on what they wanted made into this sub-forum's stickied posts (i.e. they appear up top, so new people can find them easier as they don't scroll off the front pages quickly).

Please use this thread to suggest what you want to see up there and I'll have a go at hitting buttons to make it happen.

Cheers (unless you killed me in cold blood).

PS Huge tent camp behind Willow Lake, second rock on the left.. wink

We should put together a beginners thread with links to the online maps like www.dayzdb.com/map links to the arma beta patch, dayz download site, six updater (for those that use it). I'll try and work on it if I can find some time but if someone beats me to it I understand. attack

Another good link to include
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?k...p;rm=full#gid=0

more info than the table one above.

Really, all the vital info is on the official forums, we don't need to duplicate it.

A good DayZ install video tutorial for both Steam and NonSteam users using Arma II Launcher instead of Six Launcher/Updater for the more advance users:

Arma II launcher allows you to understand what is being run or needs updates for DayZ compared to Six Launcher which does things automagically but the user won't know what to fix when there's beta updates like the current one which also requires BattleEye update.

Also very useful for swapping between playing DayZ or SimHQ O.N.E. for me:

Arma II launcher can be downloaded here:

Yep, agreed - just want to make sure the forum is as useful as it can be. Perhaps just stuff produced by the gang here, otherwise just a few links back to the mothership to help people getting into it.

Also, as we've seen, the mod is very active and in transition so it's all a moving target.

Well even if its on the official DayZ site it couldn't hurt to have a repost here since not everyone travels over to that site aside from news and updates.

SimHQ Teamspeak info

Camo facepaint
- recommended all SimHQ players apply this so we can recognize our squaddies and prevent infiltration.

1) From the Day Z main menu, go in Player Profile, and Edit your character. Pick some glasses, if any. DO NOT edit your character ingame again after you make the edits below or they will be lost.

2) Open the "Yourname.ArmA2OAProfile" (in Documents&Settings/ARMA2 folder) with notepad

3) Use the search function (press CTRL+F) for "class Identity" and you should find something that looks like this:

class Identity
{
face="Face01";
glasses="Tactical";
speaker="Male02";
squad="";
pitch=0.97714806;

4) Arma II Faces
Pick a face. We recommend a black guy for lowest natural visibility, pages 8-10 and 20-21 have a nice selection.

4) Choose a face you like and add its classname into the face line. Example: face="Face36_camo6";

5) Save the file and dont change any settings in the profile section in the game. The camouflage face will not be displayed there. You can confirm your skin in 3rd person, or ask a mate on the 3DP:OFF servers.

I find the -nopause commandline parameter to be helpful if you are multimonitor and have something on the opposing screen. The game will keep operating when it loses focus.

I'd add this map in my quote to the list and delete the team fracking one. The one I posted has all the same info and is much higher quality. To be honest (unless someone else says otherwise) it's probably the defacto map we should all be using.
