Hi guys,

I have serious fps drops every time I see a couple of other cars on the track. (basically with all my race starts, I am around 4-5 fps).
I googled around but found no solutions, so I am trying to find help here.
Tried everything (10 visible cars, graphics settings on minimum) but looks like the issue is somewhere else.
I even installed rfactor lite, and have the same issue with those cars.
(meanwhile GTR2 is performing fine on full graph, and no issues with race07 either, but that is another engine.)
I wouldn't expect any problem with my rig: Win7 64bit, Intel QuadCore 2,5 Mhz, 4GB Ram, Ati Radeon 6850 1G

Any suggestion accepted, I run out of ideas.
Thanks in advance

Okay i know Stew was having trouble, it might be caused by the installation of that classics F1 mod, try a fresh rfactor install since everything else is working fine. Alternatively before you delete that rfactor install, install an RFLite install and see how well that runs without any mods installed. I've had an issue similar where a mod i have installed has ruined the game for some reason or another.

Also, be sure to add the +fullproc command to your .exe shortcut. It allows rF1 to use multiple processors in a dual/quad-core CPU.

Done all, no significant improvement.
Strange thing is, that I do not remember having this with my old 4850 card...
Well, I wont give it up. smile

Thanks Doug, I also thought about this, but since I have a lot of old games (like all sim fans usually do) I had dx9.
I reinstalled it anyway (we all know that IT is NOT an exact science), but no improvement.

Stewart, I refreshed the driver but did not remove the previous. The card behaves perfectly in other games, but you never know, I will try to remove and reinstall when I get home.

Thanks guys, keep bombing me, something will work I am sure.

Just one question: did you notice a comparable fps drop to 4-5 fps in other mods as well, e.g. when you participated in the DRM races?

Based on my memory, it was there, but with the old card I could live with it, and it went away after the first corner. I could still run RF in almost maxed settings, keeping shadows low.
It became really worse with the new card, and I had no time to test before the 1971 races.
I installed stock RfLite yesterday evening, and fps drop is there even with minimum graph settings, as soon as I see more than 5-6 cars on the track.
I think I will try older Ati drivers in the afternoon, also heard about an fps fix dll, still a lot to try...:)

Have you already checked the card settings in the AMD Vision Engine Control Center (formerly known as Catalyst Control Center)? Just make sure that the card clocks correctly when running rF.

Good point concerning the fix dll, this helped me quite a lot in Skyrim, which sadly is better suited to Intel CPUs in general and more CPU limited.
