All,

Running a 40 inch monitor right now for simming. I'm considering the Track IR 5 but am concerned with the sensor sittng on top a monitor that will place it approximately 10-12 inches above the level of my head. Does anyone have experience with this situation and its effects or a work around to fix it.

Thanks,

AC

Not sure about 10-12 inches but my TIR is about 9-10 inches above my head level and works fine. I use the TrackClip Pro which basically has IR LEDs that the TIR picks up.

I think one thing you need to consider is your distance from the monitor. With a 40-inch, I guess you'll be sitting across the room, so I doubt if the TIR can pick up reflections that far. Again, the TrackClip Pro might help, but not very sure about the distance. I sit about 3 feet from my monitor.

Yeah I have a situation where my TIR sits 8-12" above my head at times, and it was always fine with the TrackClip Pro but that thing finally fell completely apart after being glued/ducttaped many times and I am back to using the default reflector antlers on a hat and I now notice that it still works fine for side to side detection but my ability to look down is limited before the reflectors are lost to the sensor.

So I will need to pick up another TrackClip Pro and hope the new ones are stronger than my original one.

Thanks for the input......I'll only be sitting about 3-4 feet. The other half uses it for AutoCAD. I change up the viewing area with the graphics resolution to size it for purpose.

Ouch! 3-4 feet for a 40-incher... won't you see the pixels that close?
