It flew over the park across the street from my house at about 1000ft altitude.

No, but it was so slow I got a really good look at it. The thing that confused me was the advertising painted on it, rather than some historic markings. No mistaking the corrugated skin and non-retractable landing gear.
This has been a lucky summer for spotting old aircraft. A few weeks ago I spotted both a DC-3 (silver, in some old airline livery) and a C-47 (OD/Grey with D-Day stripes) within a few minutes of each other over downtown Denver.
Last week,a Mustang (I know there is one kept down at Centennial airport, and there was an airshow over in Broomfield)

Not many of those 51's left, I hold my breath every time one fly's.

"Advertising".. wink .....that's the only thing that keeps this world turning now Murph.
Propaganda.

Seems it's your lucky year. I've been trying to catch an airshow with a Mustang in it, keep missing them.
That Merlin sound is like a 'pied piper' to me......I'd drive a hundred miles to hear it.

At the moment I am fairly lucky since I get to hear a Merlin fire up most every weekend...
Planes of Fame uses their P-51, "Dolly/Spam Can", for member sponsored flights and Dr Ken Wagner flies his P-51 "Lady Alice" quite regularly too.

I noticed he didn't run up to 40% with the breaks on....he just rolled around the corner and goosed it, and he was wheels up in about 150'. 500' and he was turning.

But.....no 'rockets' under the wings???!!!!!.....lol.....

Thanks much Wheels, for that video.
You're a lucky man.
