Purchased DCS:CA last night and oh boy this is going to be good
Being a little thick, I'm already having a couple of questions. SimHQers, please be kind:

First thing I did was jumping into an M1A2 and sneaked a little close to some juicy ground targets. But then - but not always - upon firing my main gun in anger I get the expected lound bang, the grey smoke obscuring the sight and, nothing

No explosion short or beyond my target. As if I had fired a blank for cool effect to impress the girls.
Is this normal? Could it have anything to do with ammo type? Armour piercing may not do much pyro when hitting the ground but if so, how do I know if I'm short or long?

Also, giving ground units orders to move forward via waypoints. Can do ok, but shouldn't I be able to assign targets to them? How to do so?
Is there anyway to dump some smoke screens? Would be handy in my frequent retreats.

Downloaded a 16-pages PDF manual. Is that it for the time being?
No access to YouTube since it's full of pro-Taiwanese independence propaganda apparently. Quite irritating and not helping me in grasping the Hog and now CA...

Sounds like AP?

AP is default when you first go first person into a tank, press E until HE is selected and you'll see the impact. With the AP rounds you can see a very small flash on the ground where the round has impacted. Look at your target and press ENTER and you will get locking 'gates' around it and depending on what round you have selected you will get an 'aim point', aim your cross hair at that point and you should have the correct elevation and score a hit.

Got it. Thanks for clarifying the elevation & aim point. All the funny numbers on the crosshair are written in ancient Swahili for some odd reasons. Couldn't figure out how to read them.

Does anyone know where the full manual is located on the install? I managed to d/l a 16-pages manual but I've seen references to page 25 and 23 in some threads. The doc folder in my install has a couple of readme, nothing more substantial.

Manual in your CA folder, mine is found here C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Doc and yours is too more than likely

26 pages.
