Hopped into an open MP server for a few quick minutes with CA. Having familiarized myself with the basic controls, let me say, wow this is fun. I thought it was cool just in singleplayer, but when you've got humans flying warthogs, controlling JTACs, Linebackers and tanks, this starts to really take off. I spent a couple of minutes in a stationary humvee JTAC and looked through my NVG (it was a night time mission) at the unfolding ground battle. Tracers were frequent, a lot shooting at helos, a lot being traded by ground forces. There was a human A-10 flying around, but I didn't get the opportunity to get all "JTAC-y" with him. :p Next I hopped into a Linebacker, and proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes trying to shoot down this Mi-24V. Lemme tell you, trying to shoot that #%&*$# down at night time is difficult.. even with computer-assisted aiming solutions. Also, I think the main Linebacker gun had run out of ammo. Before I could dash back to the transports to re-arm though, I spotted a small dark object rapidly approaching my binoculars...! Well, after that, I had to take a break from all that excitement, woo wee. *fans himself.*

How did you find an MP that wasn't locked? I gave up as no one wants to be friendly.

Ok,
I have DCS World, I have A-10C,
Haven’t gotten around to getting the A-10C module as I had downloaded A LOT when my system was finally running (games, etc).
Is Combined Arms Free?

ok, i just went to DCS's site, they changed it all around since i was there last, everything is now easy to find (ie modules.. etc)
Guess i gotta download the new DCS World, A-10 Module, P-51 module and look at purchasing combined operations.

DCS World was a 5 GB download, combined arms was 19 MB and A-10C was 725 MB. So.. once you get past the pain of downloading World the rest arent bad.

It might be fun if there were unlocked servers with more than 1 person on them. I spent 40 minutes the other night as a JTAC on a pub server, and never once had anyone attack my targets. Either nobody was flying, or they were off doing their own thing somewhere else. Most of the time there aren't more than 2 people on an unlocked server when I try and play.
You can't play the JTAC properly in singleplayer, which really annoys me.
This is the first DCS product where I've actually felt like I haven't gotten my money's worth, and would consider getting a refund if there was an option. Yes yes, beta, early days etc...
/frustration

I recommend hopping onto the SimHQ TeamSpeak 3 server every time you play. If there are other folks playing, and they all hop on TS3, you'll find plenty of friends to join up. I did just that last night and started with a single player "experimental" game, but folks started joining up and it was a great time. I ended up being JTAC for the other human A-10s and we coordinated a pretty good attack and had a good time, all around.

/frustration I think this modual will shine on an organised team server and would be immensely fun, which if we could get some organised SimHQ get togethers it would be great fun, it's similar to playing on a public server on arma 2, but play with a full squad and it's a different experience all together
