Do you guys/gals play any board games (aside from the ones that most retail store sell such as Monopoly, Yahtzee, Apples to Apples, etc.) ?

I have the following:
Lord of the Rings - cooperative game.
Arkham Horror - cooperative game.
Long Shot - horse racing/betting.
Formula D - racing.

I'm thinking about getting Legend of Drizzt for myself and Settlers of Catan for the family.

There are a ton of others out there that I would love to play, but I don't have anyone else close by that would be interested or time to play.

I got Ticket to Ride for Father's day and have played it a bunch already with the family (wife, 5 and 7 year old).

Settlers is on my wishlist once the kids are a bit older.

The Tabletop web series is fun to watch if you are interested in boardgames.

We have a ton of them

My favorite is the Battlestar Galactica game with expansions. If you play it with 7-8 people it is a blast!

We also have:

Shadows over Camelot
Arkham Horror (and every expansion)
Pandemic w/ expansion
Porto Rico
Dominion w/ 2 expansions
Agricola
and a bunch of others I cant remember.

You should check out http://www.boardgamegeek.com as they have a ton of stuff about board games including a ranking system to help you find a new game to buy!

Check out www.shutupshow.com Awesome show about board games! Highly recommend them because they are smart, funny, and will make you want to buy most of the games they review.

The last board game that I played regularly that fits your description is "Axis & Allies" but that hasn't been the case since I graduated from college in 1995. I'm afraid my PC gaming hobby took over everything else!

I hear ya PM.
Axix and Allies was a BLAST in college. Some VERY late nights on that. My most favorite board game to date. It even pulled us off of the Sega from Madden football and Road Rash. That's saying something!
They haven't captured that experience in a video game either.

Stratego was fun back in the day. I had the electronic version where you set bombs in your command area--that was fun!

Gave my son a new Electronic Battleship game. It's come a LONG way, adding different modes, surveilance, multiple firings...more fun action. Wish we got that out more often. Keying in the shots and hitting FIRE is always fun.

Wife and I played Othello and Backgammon a good bit back early on. Now I think we have a Sexopoly game in the back that we got as a gag gift that's calling to us one night when the kids aren't home. LOL Might be back in the board game business!

I had the board game versions for both "Harpoon" and "Shogun" back in the 1990's but eventually I got fed up with all of the number crunching and keeping track of a multitude of plastic/cardboard counters. The pc version of Harpoon made things much more enjoyable. smile

Love boardgames from ticket to ride and settlers to hive (a boardgame without the board) to combat commander.

I still have the Avalanche Press Panzer Grenadier

I never nearly played this enough, lacking a fellow "general" interested in hours of tactical gameplay.
All of my friends were for the arcadish "Risk".
Pfft, seriosuly...
