I usually dislike Zombie games, but DayZ is more like a post-apocalypse FPS persistant MMO than a zombie game, which is why I love it, the unpredictable humans and the military gear is what makes it so fun, if Dice makes just another Zombie game to try to keep up with DayZ then they will have missed the clue to it's popularity and why so many BF3 squads are playing DayZ.

I know this is just a rumor but...

I used to roll my eyes everytime someone said something along the lines of "everybody is copying Call of Duty". Especially so when they said it about the Battlefield games. Up until Battlefield 3 that is. They've just blatantly followed COD in nearly every single way now. Premium + BattleLog is basically COD Elite, new map packs every few months, the "Gun Master" mode in Close Quarters or whatever they call it is exactly the same as "Gun Game" in COD, and now POSSIBLY zombies... All those people were right after all.

Oh well, I'd still rather play BF3 over COD. Maybe they'll do a dinosaur mode, or even better... Zombie dinosaurs.

I'm looking forward to the vehicle centric DLC that will be coming out, which supposedly features larger maps.

I could see something like this happening. The last 2 expansions are called "Aftermath", and "Endgame". Both sound like they could be post Apocalyptic scenarios. I just hope they do it in an original way.
