Sorry, I missed your question first time.
Yes, xplane comes with the whole world on 8 dl dvd's. You don't have to install all of it . Total install is about 65 gb I forgot the exact amount.

Roads are based on open street map data and airport runways and taxi ways are all pretty accurately placed with elevations and sloping runways if applicable. But don't expect any airport buildings except for Seattle Tacoma. There is plenty of autogen. But no landmark buildings and no airport buildings. There are tons of freeware to fill all this in and recently there has been a bunch of payware airports to fill in some of this. Rural areas like alaska or mountain areas look really nice. Urban areas, not so much. I've converted a lot of my fsx scenery to get some of the cities to look like they should.

Xplane is a great flight sim engine but right now is far from complete. In a year or two it should be the go to sim, but right now fsx is a more complete out of the box sim if you don't want to spend any more on addons.

There is also a big update coming the end of the week to fill in some of this but I don't know exactly what's included.

Once again, great stuff, Scoobe! Love these shots.

I flew a Stinson 108 from Tucson, AZ To Anchorage, AK once. It took us a bit longer than your DC3 flight, I'm sure, but I loved the scenery. I can only image what it would look like from a DC3 in the comfort (and warmth!) of my gaming room.

Lovely shots. IMO, X-Plane beats FSX out of the water when it comes to such a simple thing as a sense of proportion and perspective. In FSX, you always seem to be close to the scenery, and it always seems too large and looming, like you're viewing it through a zoom lens. Not so in XP.

I mean, look at some of my pics from flying in northern Norway some weeks ago. FSX never gives you a feeling of those mountains in the distance really being out there in the distance. They always seem too close, and the perspective is all wrong, no matter what you do with the zoom settings.

Wow, those are nice pics! Must be nice to fly in such a beautify area. Where I fly its flat, hazy, polluted and boring.
