Indeed... As somebody said, a simple, classic, standard key works a lot better. It was all that was needed to prevent that death.

That video is absolutely chilling. 3 year old Toby, safecracker extraordinaire. Cheap sh*t marked up and made with the cheapest sh*t mechanisms (for maximum profit) made by slave labour in Asia. Walmart are still selling the ones he was opening, just by bouncing them. Wow. Just....wow.

The so called 'standards' are absolutely meaningless if they apparently don't even cover and test these possible methods of entry as basic criterion, so WTF is their purpose? "We guarantee this to be secure, because...erm...Just....'because' it helps us to sell more". Useless. As the author rightly points out, all the "biometric" wizardry and impressive sounding tech bollocks in the world is utterly meaningless if the mechanical design is so fundamentally flawed (as demonstrated) that it can be easily opened by a 3 year old kid, and is made with cheap sh*t components to boot.

Based upon the response of four of the largest sporting goods stores in the United States, I can only assume they are far more interested in revenue than the safety and security of their customers. Not one of them has withdrawn these products from the market, and therefore in my opinion, each is placing every consumer at risk.

Unbelievable.

To be fair, most of those safes would work somewhat adequately had they been properly mounted and secured.

I like this company.

However, my home defense weapon is a long gun, not a pistol...so that has a lot to do with my choice.

Oh, I don't use the bed model. wink

I doubt the cat would let me access the safe during an emergency.
