It's taken us so much for us to get to where we are. People still make sacrifices every day. While you are celebrating, never forget.

On a related note, I just recently finished reading an excellent article about the Battle/Siege of Yorktown in 1781. What I came away with after reading that article is that there is no way the US would have won that battle without the help of the French.

While the US and France have had quite a few disagreements since the end of WWII and even though the US and UK have shared a much closer relationship since WWII, Americans should never forget the contribution that France made for our independence and should never forget that foes from the past can often become the best of friends and closest allies.

agreed about friends and enemies comments Panzer. Two hundred years ago the US and Canada were fighting the war of 1812-14. "the longest undefended border' came in to being long after that war.
