The mirrors are crap. Does anyone have a fix for those. I had it before, but lost it in a HD change.

EDIT: found it. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3341516/Higher_Resolution_Mirrors.html

Be sure and check the HUD tachometer to the in-dash one. On the Tyrell's, there's almost a 1500RPM difference. Not sure if it's the same on any of the other cars, but that 1500RPM's will definetly fry an engine.

Yesterday I tried to do some online practice at Monza. I go to the next track but can't select the Monza cars. Can you make all car available, Doug. That way we can practice online at Monza to. We all just have to make sure we pick the right car for the right track.

Does this make the cars in the mirror look normal? Right now my virtual mirrors looks like the cars are smashed and stretched. It's hard to judge any distance if/when I do see a car in my Vmirrors.

Monza is a blast with these if you can find a good line and hang on to it when the tail gets happy.

The Glenn is a lot of fun, but I need to calm down because we just raced SCES here and I'm still going in to corners like I was in my P2 car (that stuck to the track) and losing it.

The Spanish track...oye! With this kind of car you really have to be going straight to hammer down the throttle. There are NO straight lines on this track...lol!

Watch the engine revs. I've lost more engines in one day of practice than I did with the DRM series...and I lost a few with that one!

The practice races are just about enough fun for me to take, so I'm kind of glad I have Air Guard drill during the actual races. wink

Hi Jason and welcome. Yes I am sure there are still cars available. I expect guod will be along shortly and will get you sorted out with the links you will need. Then you will just need to check the first page of this thread for a vacant seat. See you on track.

Welcome Jason. Just sent you the link to the download. Once you get a chance to check the cars over, please add in here what you want to drive. The first post in this thread shows what cars are already taken.

Some pretty good racing today.. but the mod does not feel very good. Not a lot of FFB and very hard to feel the tyres or the brakes. And the tracks are super smooth. Glad we're only using this for 1 day.

You can buy FFB upgrades. smile

You're right though, there's not a lot of "feel" other than when I hit the wall. wink

The armco's like a vaccum cleaner once you get on it at all three tracks, but seems to be worse in Spain than anywhere else.

Who was the "Alex" guy today? At Monza for the first race I thought it was an AI and I bumped him a bit...until I realized he wasn't an AI. Sorry dude!

cheers

Practicing with these just for something to do with no other races lined up...and to remind myself why I still don't like F1 of any kind...lol. These cars are so touchy. Every once in awhile I'll get a good lap in and think I can do it again, only to mess up again. I almost finished my first ever race in these today at My Juice, but spun at the last kink to the straightaway right into the pits. Well, I guess I did finish, but I was sliding through pit lane...lol.

LOL, "My Juice".

Problem is Weasy, the race after this one is Indy cars (or NASCAR if Indycars aren't interesting). Is that better? smile

For some reason I don't have the problems driving IndyCar. screwy

Well, we usually only drive IndyCars on ovals. smile

I drove IndyCars at Mid Ohio in the National Guard (rFactor) sim a few years ago and beat everyone's times for three laps at a festival

I think it's just the old technology with the 71s, 75s, 79s. The rear end likes to just snap out and there's no real "medium" throttle. It's like a little throttle to max throttle...lol. I know it is there, but my foot likes to go heavy too often because I'm used to cars that have a little more throttle control.

Now I do remember having some fun with new F1 (FSONE?) a few years ago...but there was grip. wink

I've just never been a fan of the old F1s. I think in our first 79GP series we did I might have had a top 4 or 5 finish in one race, but mostly I didn't finish at all.

I'd love to do a few races using CTDP F1 2006 (I also have an excellent good 2010 mod).

Anyone have any recommendations for the Alfa Romeo radiator setting? Was doing well in the practice race when it blew up halfway. It was set on 2 at the time.

Radiatior isn't the issue as the oil temp stays in the safe range. Check your gearbox, be sure you keep RPM below the red zone, and shift smoothly wink I blew up twice at the Glen because of overagressive downshifting whereas I never blew around Monza, and this was exactly the same setup (excepted from wings).

Yes, it was the CDTP 2006 mod. We had some great races in those.

Arthur, it shows that we're complete opposites. You run very well and I don't. wink

Jason be aware that the Hud is off by about 1500RPM on the tacho compared to the Tacho in the car. dont use the hud Tacho to judge your gear changes.

Any chance I could drive the #8 March Alfa Romeo for the Glen round as well?

Think I'll skip Montjuich. It always runs choppy on my computer :P

Probably all 3 tracks, with a couple of 15-minutes or 5-laps race on each one.

I'd like to see something with either of the CTDP mods, but with a little different format.

Use the individual team physics and divide them into 3 racing "groups". If using 2005 as an example, put the usual race winners in the Minardi, Sauber and Jordans, the middle of the pack guys in the Toyota, Williams, Red Bull and BARs and the slowest guys get the Ferrari, McLaren and Renaults. Have a 3-4 race format with different style tracks at each venue...like Monaco, Spa, Monza and Silverstone.

That ain't a bad idea. But for sure, 2006 mod.

I know we're getting off topic from the thread...might be something worthy of it's own thread if there's interest, but the CTDP 2006 mod has the ability for the Safety Car to be driven by someone during races. Not sure if it's only available in the League Edition or not...haven't messed with it in quite a while, but it could be an opportunity for our Race Director to get some track time if he's not up to running in the events themselves.

Well pedals and shifter still work, and I lost the steering progressively, turning less, less, less, and nothing after 30s trying to feel the wheel. Not sure I can do something, even more before Sunday frown

Disconnect, restart your laptop and try another USB port. From what you're describing, it sounds electrical and not mechanical (FWIW).

Arthur, have you looked at the wheel's response in the Logitech Profiler? If so, does it show a full range of motion?

Yeah, it doesn't move anymore. No response.

That's strange, I felt it as some mechanical failure ... wouldn't surprise me that much after 4 and a half years of intense racing biggrin rebooting now.

Is it permanently mounted? If not, maybe a loose connection somewhere inside the wheel housing could be causing the lack of input.

If you felt some sort of mechanical failure, then it could be more. mad

Permanently mounted, yep.

I now think it's a USB issue, when I plug it in, he has some convulsions - three times, with some strenght, and then the power light is flashing. Logitech software can't detect it.

Yep. Uninstall the Logitech software, remove any residue of folders. Shut down the laptop. Disconnect the wheel. Boot back up without the wheel connected. If you have a jump drive, try it in the USB slots and see if it recognizes the USB device correctly in the ports. Are you running on a USB hub? If yes, direct connect to the laptop.

I thought it worked : G25 detected, everything looked ok... but no, still losing the steering. It seems that when I turn the wheel quickly, it gets lost and doesn't realize i'm turning it.

And same problem again ... frown

Arthur, is it just the sudden movements that are causing the steering to go away? Or, does it seem to go away after a certain amount of time? If it's a time thing, it could be temperature related maybe.

Answer B Sir ! Good idea, Steve. I'll disassemble it tomorrow, I don't have the tools but I know someone who does. And I have to sleep, alarm clock rings in 7 hours from now skyisfalling

Whatever the result of this will be, thank you very much Doug and Steve for trying the best you can to save my wheel - you are my hopes smile

damn that sucks Arthur... To me it sounds like a loose power connection, so hopefully it's just a loose wire that's a easy fix... Good luck with it dude...

Hi guys,
because of family, I do not have enough time to practise, and definitely do not want to spend it with car setup.
Do anyone has a setup to share? I do not wanna break record times, the safer the better. smile

I'll post my setups later this week, probably tomorrow.

Well all seems OK with the wheel, checked everything but it still doesn"t work ... Not temperature-related as it was clean, today it didn't work at all and still doesn't want to run. RIP G25 goodnight

Man that really sucks... Sounds pretty terminal... Do you have any back up wheel?

Nope, this is my first ever wheel.

EDIT :

In fact I've got a SRWheel, but I really can't race it, it's like playing Mario Kart on Wii smile A friend has a very old Boeder top racing wheel. It doesn't work of course, but it has no FFB which means a spring that centers the wheel. Better than nothing. Some scotch, and I stuck the SRWheel to the Boeder wheel. I now have a fixed 180-degrees wheel. And I still can use the shifter and the pedals of the G25.

Just did a 1:25.3 around Montjuich - but wow, that's so hard !

Do not shift late when throttling, do shift late when downshifting and be smooth when upshifting and downshifting, especially with heel-and-toe. Then you should make it wink

Teamspeak is on the same box as the games now. Rebooted.

Monza qualifying.

If you're having problems connecting, try 108.174.63.66 and don't add a port address.

Well a VERY difficult day, between wheel issue and mismatchs I had to deal with many things smile

Only manage to make two races.

Montjuich. I did a nice qualifying, got P2 0.6 adrift of Darren. A hell of a start put me first, and then I tried all I could to keep the lead to Darren and Pumbaa. Darren got me once, I take it back in a Kobayashi-style ! Then Pumbaa must have spin somewhere. Two third of the race, Darren got me, but spins a couple of turns later ! Got the lead, made it very safely throught the backmarkers but Rocket Darren was back 2 laps to the end... Final lap, final slight right turn before the finish, he jumped on the inside, we hit, and crossed the line in deep smoke ! He got me. Congrats Darren wink

Monza. Got pole 0.3 ahead of Darren again, then a flying start and some crazy opening laps - 1.22.8 on lap 2 ! - and I realize I was leading a nice gap to... a McLaren ? Frank ? No Darren anymore ! Well, I kept pushing because Frank is a hell of a racer, got consistent laps ; on the second half he started closing in but I had everything under control. Best lap on the final lap, 1:22.513, even faster than in qualifying ! I'm really happy with that two races.

Then hardware issues prevent me from making the oter races, even though I got P2 on Watkins' grid, only .1 off Darren's pace. At least, I had fun !

Huge apologies to the guys I wrecked out in sprint Monza race, coudn't even see who you were as I lost connexion right after frown frown

Don't worry Staniol, it's fine. I was just sorry i couldn't swerve in time to avoid that second one. You took a pretty hard hit there, Sorry frown

Didn't make any difference to my outcome, Even without any other cars to bounce off, I hit a concrete wall and wrecked the car all by myself biggrin

For those that had problems finding the server today, get rFconnect.

rFconnect download

And for seeing more servers on the rF lobby you need to change a line in your Multiplayer.ini file (rFacotr\Userdata\{your name}\Multiplayer.ini).

Find the following line:

Concurrent Server Updates="400"

and change it to

Concurrent Server Updates="999"

Some times you still need to refresh, but most of the time you will find your server the first time. Adding a higher number doesn't work.

I had gMotor 2 errors with the mod, no idea what the problem was as this didn't come up in the practice races. I could load the races fine locally though.

What a fun mod and a great group to run it with!

Had some problems with my CSP pedals just before the start of the first race, but could solve the problem just in time for the Monza event by partially disasemble them and changing a PCB.
As a Fanatec CSP user you sure got to know your pedals inside out after awhile and that service time is starting to get pit-stop quality. biggrin

Monza was a mixed bag for me because right at the start for that 20 min race I lost my FFB and needed some laps to adopt, by which Arthur had already opened a nice gap and it sure didn´t help he was trying to set a new track record every lap. Great driving by him!

Though driving without any FFB was unfamiliar and the wheel felt like a wet noodle after a long day in a pasta machine, I was quite surprised being as fast as I was with FFB after only a few laps.
Must be a Monza thing I guess?! wink

The race at Watkins Glen was fun and I had some great close racing with Darren and Pumbaa during the first laps.
With both having some bad luck I could open a gap and concentrate on keeping it on the grey stuff for the rest of the race.

Even with some glitches for some of us during the event today, I hope we will do another race series with those cars.
Best racing fun I had for awhile! thumbsup

Frank if you think this was great racing today you should join us mor often cos this is the quality of racing we usually have irrespective of which mod we happen to be running. These guys are quite honestly the best group of racers I have ever raced with when it comes to the right attitude.

Great but crazy day at the races...

This mod is such a blast... I love it... But so many issues made it crazy... Maybe it was because there were 3 tracks loaded on the server, or maybe it was just a weird internet thing because of the 2 SimHQ Motorsports 1 servers that were up before the races started and it just never cleared up... Until others started having issues I thought it was a anti-Ferrari conspiracy or something with both Ahmad and Arthur coping the most problems... Hard luck guys...

I had some great battles out there today, but just couldn't do better than 2 2nds... Still was a blast...

Thanks to Doug for hosting and all who made the racing possible... Can't wait for the next classic race...

What an Event!

...in more ways than one. yep

I sincerely want to thank everyone for keeping their cool (better than I did!) and staying with the day.

We did get some great racing in, but it took everyone to work with the mess and maintain composure. So thank you!

We did pretty good on attendance with just a few of those that signed-up missing the event. Considering we had IP roulette, that in itself is a minor miracle!

Sounds like there was some good racing, even with any technical problems. That era's one of my favorite.

Sorry I missed it, had something come up pretty unexpectedly that took up most of my Sunday. It figures, I was at least able to see the Top 5 in these cars most of the time at all the tracks so I was bound to miss it...oh well, things happen.

Well I managed to fix my issues! I think that reinstall over the old install I tried on the server didn't work so I totally deleted that install of RF lite and copied over a new version. I then installed the F1 71mod in that and My sound problems are no more. I have no idea what was causing the issue as even without teamspeak, the sound would still disappear. Moving the level in the mixer would work for a while then the fault would re-appear even with the speaker control highlited as suggested by Doug. rFactor sure has some strange ways about it but I am posting this here just in case anyone has the same problem with their sounds. It seems the best fix for anything going awry in rFactor is "Clean install from Scratch"

For me it was pure pain and struggle. smile
I was out of town last week, and arrived home 1 hour before the races.
I realised that I choose a turbine car for monza, whith only 1 gear, so I had to do some serious setup in that one hour.
I had that bad feeling before every race, which I had in the 1986 F1 mod, my first series with you guys.
I couldn't handle the throttle smooth enough to keep these beasts straight, I just prayed through the event, not to ruin anyone's race.
Despite that, I had fun, it was a huge challenge just to stay on track.
Surprisingly, I was quite OK with the turbine car at monza, however, for the last 10 minutes I had to use it on 75% power only, because of overheating. I could pull of a good result during the sprint race, but made some stupid braking mistake (even with that, I managed to stay in the lead lap, which I consider a huge achievement).
At Glen, I was quite OK, but when I managed to hit Darren 2 times in 20 secs, I decided to quit, just to keep away from traffic.
Next time I wont jump in a car like this without any practise.
Anyway, I still really enjoyed it, and would do it again. smile
Thanks

(But, there is no f***n way I would sit in any of these in real life)
