I dont think it is sad that a mainstream genera landed ARMA into the number 1 selling game spot. That income is going to vastly improve arma3 IMHO and I can deal with all the crap that being mainstream brings as long as arma3 profits. I just hope that they dont try to dumb down arma3 for all these newbies.
Exactly. And at its core, DayZ + ArmA2 is still a tactical shooter, whether you like it or not. It has all the elements of a tactical shooter, just with a fantasty/sci-fi element thrown in. And as most players will tell you, the biggest allure of the game is the dynamic between players - deciding if you can trust other humans, working together, hunting other groups, etc. Listen in on the SimHQ group and you'll hear players working together as well if not better than the crowd during a typical 'tactical' session on plain jane ArmA2.
