If you have to buy BoM to get a fixed version of CoD, it is a scam pure and simple. In most countries it would be called fraud.

I doubt that the development will withhold an exclusive patch for COD that fixes the game engine. They have to understand the goodwill that will be lost by such an action, and also must realize that most of us would buy any Sequel if the game engine is working, just as we did thru the original IL-2 series. Its highly doubtful you will see BOM released anyway unless the game engine is fixed, if they do without the fix, it will be just a cash grab as they shut down the development. Even then sales will be relatively low outside of Russia, as most of us will wait to see if the game engine was fixed before buying.

While quite good for movie makers, not so good for the integrity of the CoD code. This seems to show it is possible to get around the VAC system for anti-cheating (which may or may not have ever worked). Also, this might not be a concern now, but definitely opens the door to other FM/DM hacks implemented without general knowledge.

I am not accusing the ATAG guys of cheating, for all of our disagreements, I've talked to Bliss enough to know that he's an upstanding guy. But by letting everyone know they've successfully broken the VAC barrier, they've announced to everyone that VAC doesn't work.

I'm coming late to this thread, but I just want to point out that VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) is not relevant to what the ATAG guys have done. VAC ensures client-side file integrity. If the ATAG guys have truly edited ("hacked") their server, it would still depend on the manner in which the server was edited. VAC doesn't check everything; merely what the game developers instruct it to check.

VAC is also more than likely not enabled for CLOD, otherwise I suspect we'd be seeing issues with the beta patches which aren't distributed via Steam.

VAC is not broken.

I hope you are right, but there are many saying that you will need to buy BoM to integrate the two in order to get the fixes for CoD. Hope they are wrong, because that would be a total scam that I and many others will have no part in.

That is certainly the case for some upgraded features - like the advanced weather model. These will probably require integration.

[i]However,[/i Maddox games made it very clear that these features would not be in CoD prior to release and had been removed to rework for the sequel.

For instance, try reading this: http://simhq.com/_air13/air_475a.html
