Well, the ATAG guys seem to have opened a can of worms, and I'm quite interested in how this will develop. They've produced a utility that circumvents/over-rides the ability to make tracks with outside views on within full switch servers. While quite good for movie makers, not so good for the integrity of the CoD code. This seems to show it is possible to get around the VAC system for anti-cheating (which may or may not have ever worked). Also, this might not be a concern now, but definitely opens the door to other FM/DM hacks implemented without general knowledge.

I am not accusing the ATAG guys of cheating, for all of our disagreements, I've talked to Bliss enough to know that he's an upstanding guy. But by letting everyone know they've successfully broken the VAC barrier, they've announced to everyone that VAC doesn't work.

Well, if enough people were actually flying it online, it might matter.

I've been informed this is a separate utility run post-game, nothing in-game. Makes me very relived, and impressed someone could come up with it.

i didn't think VAC was ever switched on with CloD due to the whole Beta patch issue and the game integrity being otherwise to the present steam version?

I think that what will eventually happen is that Hackers, or rather Modders will eventually fix what the Developers seem unable to, it has already been stated more or less that for them to continually work on fixing CloD is eating away at the money they have set aside for BoM so it's not worth it to them to waste their time on this at least that what I get from it. IL-2 1946 is getting better everyday, while the development of CloD is getting stagnant. I think Mods coming along was the best thing to happen under the circumstances.

Spending resources on CloD content I understand but how is it a waste for them to spend time on fixing CloD when the the CloD engine is used for BoM? No fixie CloD, no BoM.

The business model was to add tools to make it easier for modders to add content to the new series. The major problem is that they are too busy just trying to get the game working to build these tools. That said, tools are needn't to build campaigns and missions for COD, whats needed is a playable game that will interest enough people to build them. There won't be a BOM unless the game engine is fixed, if they fix the game engine most of COD's problems will disappear.

B6 has already stated that the tool's won't be available...it may have something to do with their new direction, possibly MMO I guess.

In that case, I don't see any ability for the modding community to fix the game. Doubt any company will let their MMO be modded.
